vanisher - the history of saints

We’ve already told you how we feel about NC-based metallers Vanisher, who feature in their ranks members of Bloodjinn and Glass Casket, North Carolina royalty. Their debut album The History of Saints drops on Tribunal Records on September 14th, and now, in addition to the couple of tracks they’ve got on their MySpace page you can also stream “Conviction Cell,” the album’s very last track, below. It’s a good taste of what Vanisher are all about — razor-tight riffs and an uncanny sense of melody with songs that get stuck inside your brain almost instantly. Pre-order The History of Saints here.

Vanisher will be on tour from September 17-26 with MS faves The Binary Code and fellow NC-rockers Hephystus. Tour dates after the jump!

  • Tom

Preferred Bloodjinn to be honest. Thought This Machine Runs On Empty showed promise. Any word on whether or not Between Breaths will see the light of day?

  • NoNameNoSlogan

I love how this site jizzes in it’s pants over the most mediocre bands

    • evilfatguy

I was gonna say that it’s funny how they shit all over other shitty bands and then have an orgasm for the most generic tripe.

  • Vinsanity

wow i dig the shit out of glass casket, but yes, these guys are terribly mediocre. shrieks remind me of auguries/aborted’s and that growl sounds like something killswitch would do. clean vox reminds me of killswitch too. god the riffs are just like any other killswitch core band out there (aka the chorus ive heard a bazillian times). these guys shouldnt be getting this much hype yall nothing compells me.

  • Metalguy

I bet they were paid to write this.

    great song, just pre-ordered.

  • Matt

Gotta pay the bills somehow right?

    • Matt

I thought I was going to like it till the clean vocals kicked in. Not that I hate clean vocals, just not these. This is just 2005ish era metalcore.

  • Kuranes

This cover reminds me of the cover of another album that just came out, but for some reason goes unmentioned on this site:

    http://www.myspace.com/spiritualbeggars

Mike Amott + Per Wiberg + Sharlee D’Angelo = Better than this

  • justinmorse

Let’s bag on Triple A riffs until our balls fall off, and then suck a band’s cock for support by streaming a track that opens with absolute garbage Triple A generic bullshit.

    Get your shit together.

    • bioloop

haha . . . sounds like someone is is a bit afraid to cut away from that “cookie cookie cookie” vocal style of music . . . . sounds great guys t . .. don’t hate !!! adapt

  • rudedog

gotta love all this envy – roflmao – great song

  • ian

    great song!

  • bioloop

Fucking wicked !!!! can wait until I get my pre-order in the mail !!!

  • Jizzbottom

This band cd comes with AAA coverage for your shitty car.

  • Richard

Glass Casket was one of my favorite NC bands growing up, hell, I sported their non-existant merch when I was on tour with my own band from NC over the years. However, I think this band has the capability to do much much better. They are so influenced by Killswitch and Scar Symmetry that it just leaves in the wake a trail of bland metal that has already been done. The clean vocals aren’t really that great, great attempt, but nothing to jizz over. Kyle Odell wrote most of This Machine Runs on Empty and it was a promising record for Bloodjinn (minus the terrible vocals). I don’t know, they should have picked up Brandon Yoho from Rapture Cabaret when they had the chance. Would have loved to have seen an album with Kyle and Brandon at the helm. Medicore stuff here, from musicians I respect, sort of a mixed bag for me right now. Come on guys, push yourself!

  • Tiffany

I agree Richard, I went to a lot of Bloodjinn and Glass Casket shows when I lived in NC. Only got to catch one or two Rapture Cabaret shows before I moved away but they reminded me vocally of an early Prayer for Cleansing/At The Gates. Recommend anyone to listen. That would be pretty awesome to hear his vocals meshed with the strong guitar riffs of this band. Overall, I enjoyed the tune even with all the naysayers. I like a meaner edge, so clean vocals aren’t my thing. Maybe next time I’ll hear a track featuring that guy from Rapture Cabaret and Adam Cody, now there’s something I’d purchase! haha Take care boys!!

  • Eric

Holy fuck, this is medicore bullshit! Why does this site keep recommending shit music. Guitar work is pretty good and was a huge fan of Adam Cody’s Glass Casket. Tiffany, thanks for recommending Rapture Cabaret, found some newer tracks on some offshot myspace site and “Hell On The High Seas” is fucking awesome!

Also, people really think This Machine Runs On Empty was great? I just thought the guitar work was the only thing worth listening. Kyle you da man! Ok yea, I second having a track with Adam Cody and the guy from Rapture Cabaret, that’d be sick as hell!

  • Tiffany

Silly boys! Thank you Eric! Horns up to Rapture Cabaret!

I need to come visit my old home of NC, New York just isn’t the same! Plus, southern metal boys do it way better! ;)

  • Insomniac

I guess everyone can’t sleep like me or you guys have jobs that start really early! lol

I have never heard of any of the bands listed, except for Glass Casket! I’ll have to check out the Bloodjinn band,.

Soooo, I listened to the “Hell On The High Seas” track by Rapture Cabaret, fucking awesome! Why can’t Tribunal or this site jizz about music like that? Simple, to the point fucking metal, I liked it!

Vanisher is hyped with former members of better bands, period. Oh and Tiffany, you just haven’t tried Yankee metalheads yet, I could be your first! What do you say?!

  • Insomniac

Oh, why doesn’t that Kyle guy team up with Dan Todd from Rapture Cabaret? That’d be pretty sick in my mind. I also agree with Adam Cody and Brandon Yoho doing a track together. Found me a new band to listen to while I can’t sleep! Fuck yea!

  • jesuschrist

Jesus this is like a fucking trip down memory lane! I used to listen to all of those bands! I own This Machine Runs On Empty and love it! So suck it! haha

I work out to 500 Red on my ipod, so was unaware Rapture Cabaret had any new tunes available! I hadn’t heard their name in quite sometime! I live in Charlotte and thought Vanisher was some new band, but come to find out, it’s members of Glass Casket and Bloodjinn, pretty cool!

    NC Metal owns, period.

  • dudeman

Rapture Cabaret are you fucking serious people?
This thread has officially jumped the shark.

Song isn’t that bad, wipe the sand out of your vaginas and move on.

I guess it’s that time of the month for some Metalsucks readers. :)

    • rudedog

dudeman rules – break out the tampons

  • vagrules

They’re just voicing their opinion, it’s the beauty of metal my friend! Everyone can like whatever they want! If anything, I wasn’t offended by some of the comments. The woman stated that it wasn’t her cup of tea but still gave respects to the former bands and one guy even gave respect to the entire NC scene.

I mean 3 bands were given respect to…

You’re right the song isn’t that bad, I’m sure plenty of people will dig it. Just like there are people who will dig Rapture Cabaret and other countless bands. Oh wait, funny story there, if you read up on them, they were produced by Kyle Odell, so to me it all comes full circle yet again!

Just read people…I’ll take that tampon now!

    • rudedog

vagrules rules too!!!!! – - here’s your tampon – -enjoy!!!!!

  • Anesthesia

I feel like we need to get back on the topic of Vanisher.

I’m a fan of heavier metal but these guys bring a good combo of heavy and melodic. The riffs are brutal and the singing vocals are clean. Even if you don’t particularly like this stil you have to give credit where credit is due.

I think that it really shows something that Kyle Odell is involved with all the band mentioned. I’m just saying

    • rudedog

anesthesia rules – the new album by these guys is an awesome brutal / melodic fusion – their upcoming mini-tour with the binary code is going to be killer

      • Anesthesia

thanks a lot. Sometimes it can fill a little lonely on here. LOVE VANISHER! I wish I could see them in NYC.

    • Anesthesia

I was just listening to a little Glass Casket and was looking at their Facebook page and noticed that Kyle Odell will be playing with them on October 17th. Again…. I’m just saying

  • yetzer hara

can’t wait to see this shit next week (more for the binary code than vanisher) in herndon. saw some posters for it this week.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Beau-Brammer/1793260807 Beau Brammer

Have to agree with the other heads in here about going batshit over dogshit, its too obvious where the kickbacks are going

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Corey-Grey-Lanier/511876248 Corey Grey Lanier

i have to say that andrew is a bad ass drummer… and this band is wayyyyyy better than “dead eyes” which was his previous band. although i was told by adam and dusty that glass casket were working on new shit… i guess it is holding much truth as of now, but hopefully. need a good old school nc metal reunion show with glass casket, beloved, and swift… that shit would be epic!

  • AAAAAHHHHHHH

so this is my band…..no we didn’t pay anybody to get on here. They are just awesome dudes who post about whoever!!! they do tons of unsigned band coverage in all genres. that & it’s hilarious is why Im always on this djent. yeah kyle loves some soilwork and Killswitch. But he loves a bunch of tunes? we all bring in whatever influence we have to the table so listen to the album ( im sure it’s free somewhere!!!!) and then see what you think. There are a few straight forward heavy songs on there; and one that is pure melodic. I dig all the comments; I like knowing what you think…..but the band plugging here is wild juno.
