EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE: FIREWIND SET THE “WORLD ON FIRE”

UPDATE: Now in high-quality!

Greece’s mightiest power metal masters, Firewind, are back with new dose of awesomeness, Days of Defiance – and MetalSucks is proud to be debuting the video for the lead single, “World on Fire.” Because everything Firewind touches turns to metal, this clip features all manner of kick-associty, including the band inhabiting a world on fire (duh), a hot blonde chick, and lots of close-ups of Gus G. If you don’t love this, then you have no soul.

“World on Fire” is currently available for download from iTunes. Days of Defiance comes out October 25 on Century Media; you can pre-order CD or vinyl copies here.

    Italian you n00b, not Greek.

    • MadSkins

Holy shit I hope you’re kidding.

Anyway, this song is pretty dull. Not bad, just generic and all-around lackluster.

      • Cladgemeister

Holy shit, how the fuck did I read that as Rhapsody of Fire.

        Drugs are bad kids.

    • Schiz

they are Greek !! you are the noob !!

  • Coop

The song is good, but the video quality is terrible!

  • Song Seeker

heh, if you squint, and make the flying rocks into Angels, then you have this:

actually, no need to squint… just go watch the superior, original version (both song and video!)

Sorry, just calling it like I see it!

I heard one good riff in there….

    • Natsquatch

I agree, if that’s the bridge/closing riff you’re talking about. I like Firewind, but this is pretty underwhelming. The keyboard solo is neat though.

yeah the bridge….i don’t like Firewind, always find them underwhelming & uninspired

  • Discipleofthewatch

The quality of the video was bad, but I liked the song!

  • BigBintheAV

Why does this guy sound like a cheap version of Bruce Dickenson? lol

    • Natsquatch

      Nah.

The song was alright, but nothing special at first. Then the pre-solo section hit, and I was instantly reminded of why I love Gus G so goddamn much. When that guy writes a riff, he writes a motherfucking riff.

This video looks like Super Mario Bros on the NES.

  • chrismarchiel

wow you guys weren’t kidding, it looks about 320×240 resolution (which is approx super nintendo resolution, although the higher color depth and compression artifacts remind me more of the badly compressed cinematics that play in nintendo DS games). I’m sure this was filmed with nice cameras and the real version has great picture quality, but when you debut a video online that’s the ONLY way most people will experience it, they won’t buy dvds or look around for a high quality version unless they already love the shit out of you and in that case they aren’t who you’re trying to impress with the video anyway. Might as well have shot the video with an iphone in that case.

  • Dubs

WTF, there have to be at least 20 songs with the words “world” “on” “fire” in them.

    • Corman135

I was just gonna say i can think of about 600 power metal songs about setting the world on fire

  • DemonicLemming

Meh. Maybe because there’s already so much good power metal out there, or maybe because to me, Firewind is right about average when it comes to power metal, but this one didn’t do a whole lot for me.

  • Justin

a lot of Gus G’s riffs are meh (especially the thrashier ones), but he’s a hell of a lead player.

  • Max

I liked this song better when Symphony X did it.

  • Andy

    That chick is wildfoxy!

October 26th, not 25th, guys. Albums get released on Tuesdays here in North America.

This video is much better now that they put up the HQ version. Can’t wait for this album, and definitely looking forward to seeing them in November in NYC!

Jesus..Gus Gee looks like he only picked up a guitar 10 mins ago…how the hell can he replace Randy Rhodes…and yes this is far to safe and very average at best..
    Come on guys..x

  • Jay

Trying to disguise how shitty your song is with a hot chick never works! These guys need to call it quits, I don’t care how cool the pre-solo and fade out riff is!
