A LONGER PEEK BEHIND THE HUMAN ABSTRACT’S DIGITAL VEIL

Monday, November 15th, 2010 at 10:00am by

Last month The Human Abstract released a forty-second teaser for their new album, Digital Veil; now they’ve released another preview, this one coming in at nearly two-and-a-half minutes. And, at least based on the five completed songs we’ve heard (and the uncompleted ones the band played us when we visited them in the studio this past summer), I think it will give fans a much better sense of the awesomeness that both Vince and myself are confident THA are about to deliver. I mean, I suppose it’s feasible that you could hear the music in the below video and not go “HOLY SHIT THAT SOUNDS SO FUCKING AWESOME!”, but if that were the case, I’d wanna check your pulse, or at least make you go to the doctor to see if you have, like, an inner ear infection or something.

The Human Abstract will release an entire new song, “Faust,” online tomorrow. Digital Veil will be out sometime early next year on Hopeless.

i just came back from the dr. and they said im a go for ” awesome processing”

  • MadSkins

Holy shit! That accoustic bit at the beginning sounds EXACTLY like the music in Top Gun when Goose dies!!!

    • Chainsaw Majini

He split his dome piece against his own rig. Didn’t look like much of a goose just floating there motionless in a sea of his own green smoke. What a loser.

I thought it sounded a little like Jack and Sally’s song in Nightmare Before Christmas.

      • Jo

-15 internet points for being lame

  • DarneloTr0n

And why haven’t I heard about these FUCKING AWESOME MOTHER FUCKING FUCKERS THEY’RE FUCKING AWESOME FUCK MY EARS WHAT THE FUCK!

AJ is poised to become one of the next great songwriters in metal, IMO.

  • Brutal Jay

I’m still skeptical of a Human Abstract without Nathan.

    • ryan d.

      my thoughts exactly my friend

      • jamsea

I didn’t like Nathan’s vocals at all. This guy seems better. Nathan was ridiculously pitchy. I remember when my old band covered Vela Together We Await the Storm our singer/keyboardist played the recording and said “Listen to the note he sings here, its littearlly in between these two keys on my piano. So if we want to sound like the recording I have to sing off pitch on purpose”.

          HAHAHA oh, wow, man

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josh-Kruk/520503461 Josh Kruk

Sounds better than the last pile of crap they put out

    • http://www.heavymetal.co.nz heavymetalnz

      1000

  • Chad Ochocincolol

Sounds just like their old stuff: decent proggy bits juxtaposed with godawful screaming and breakdowns. Not stoked

Sounds like The Faceless on Planetary Duality if they decided to use riffs for more than one bar, and have recurring themes, and not do a constant stop-start with the groove.

  • matty2fatty

    I love protest the hero!

but seriously, this sounds pretty good

  • Jo

They are breaking my heart they really all. i should like this but without Ells i dont know if i can. From the generic deathcore vocals on the breakdowny parts. to the overpowering echo on the clean vocals and the level of said vocals in the mix being high. All in all they are puilling a “Sotelo”. Noctrune was awesome and Midheaven was unique, pure, beautiful, amazing. they are moving it seems into to a sonic territory already flooded with experienced bands. but who knows these are snippets. maybe faust will blow me away. More likely then not the will die a generic death

    • jerome

yeah…its a 2 minute teaser man. how about u wait until an actual song is released. also ells sucked man. saw them live 3 times and have seen countless vids of them performing live. he cant sing worth a damn. also midheaven had its moments but pure and beautiful are not two words that would be used to describe it. even the band admits it was a piece of garbage.

  • el fucko

is ear infection a euphemism for having good taste in metal?

this video made me want some coffee.

  • halloway

    new singer sounds promising…

    can’t wait for tomorrow!

    • TheSkunkCatcher

      same exact thought

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ben-Robson/1375985482 Ben Robson

thank god they have a new singer and the old guitarist back. Midheaven was an auditory abortion

    • Aaron R A

Maybe you should have been a non-auditory abortion.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ben-Robson/1375985482 Ben Robson

        el oh el

  • Kazz

Sounds promising despite the stupid breakdown near the beginning of the clip. The vocals definitely sound like an improvement.

  • Kye

Congrats on making me eat my words, Travis Richter. It seems like you’ve come a long way since Dear Diary.

    • TheSkunkCatcher

Travis’s screams have improved a lot since From First To Last and him actually doing clean vocals for once blew me away.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Erik-Emrick/1552397263 Erik Emrick

Eh, sorry. Didn’t really like this at all. The ‘singing’ is really bad, and the ‘heavy’ parts sound like a Faceless copycat.

    • jerome

the singing is really bad? honestly? lol it sounds nothing like the facelesss. good job basing that on a couple seconds of a song. 100+ internets for you

  • gibberish

Hope Faust is better than these samples were, cuz this is very, very disappointing…

  • John

Sounds like Nocturne with better vocals. Don’t know why everyone is on a high horse over it.
