UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS WITH THE RED CHORD’S GREG WEEKS: THE CFL IS FUN AND CONFUSING

Monday, November 15th, 2010 at 5:00pm by

I’d like to once again thank my replacements for last week. They taught us how stupid American football is, how to do a football blog correctly, and what it feels like to root for a losing team.

Speaking of which, congratulations are in hand for the Buffalo Bills and their first season win! And a bigger thanks goes to the Detroit Lions for giving it to them. I think Detroit wanted to keep their winless 2008 record intact and gave the Bills one for the win column. The Lions did break another record on Sunday though: most road losses for any NFL team. The record was previously held by themselves.

My Sunday was pretty hectic this week. We had a border crossing into Canada for a show in Windsor, ON at the Blind Dog. Besides having to get to know the different cultures and languages of a new country, the show was successful. I watched some CFL, which was fun and confusing. Three downs, the uprights in the front of the endzone, and said endzone being the size of a regular U.S. football field. We actually have a friend in the Canadian Football League. His name is Peter and he plays for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. I’ll have to have him explain all the rules to me when next we speak . At the end of the night they did show the Pats-Steelers game so I was pretty pumped about that.

The Broncos crushed KC with a little help from young QB Tim Tebow who forgot to wear his John 3:14 under-eye sun blockers. He threw his first TD as a professional god fearing football player. Amen, Tim! Team jumper Randy Moss couldn’t bring his Titans to victory even with his one 26 yard reception as the fish overcame Tennessee with ease. I’m excited to see who Randy will be playing for next week. Maybe for our friends in the CFL.

So, with Loonies and Toonies jingling in my pocket, I bid you all a fond adieu. See you next week in the States.

CFL season is almost over so you should get on that quick. Grey Cup is in two weeks!!

  • Vakarm

And the Montreal Alouettes will triumph once more!

    • Ørsaeth

I doubt it will be as dramatic as last years though. That was a Grey Cup for the ages

      • Vakarm

Tell me about it! It was Epic! They were even talking about it on Fox the next day

  • fritz

I’ll raise your Alouettes with my Roughriders! We’re gonna take the cup this year :)

    • Vakarm

Bring it on! We’ll crush you again! :D

    • Druidus

      Hell yeah man. Roughriders ftw!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kuranes

Goddamn it’s rough being a Tiger-Cat fan. Although they did get closer to the Grey Cup than they’ve been in 11 years, it still sucked seeing such an improved season come to an end yesterday. On that note, go Riders! Or whoever takes out those motherfucking argonauts once and for all…

Imagine the pain I feel being a Bomber Fan …

I was about to say the ticats have sucked for over a decade and that i have little sympathy for the bombers, but I did my research: no Grey Cup win since 1990? that suuuuuuuuuucks bro, I feel for ya.

        Go the Bombers!

  • Hexbasher

I wasnt surprised to watch the BC Lions get knocked out of the playoffs last night…glad i didnt buy season tickets this year…

    • Ørsaeth

that was a great game though. I am excited to be a Lions fan next year. We have potential.

Go Lazio! Oh wait, wrong football

    • Peter Griffin

      You mean, the RIGHT football!

  • Slaughterhouse

Im just glad the cowboys took it to the Giants. If thats the only game they win this year, I’m happy with that

If 2-7 start makes you happy then what can I say, your easily pleased. Cowboys are still by far the worst in NFC East. It goes Phillly ( I hate em but anyone who saw VIck last night knows what I mean) > Giants > Washington > Cowboys.

C’mon Giants were preparing to face a 1 and 7 team. I doubt they brought their A- Game that night especially since they are facing a REAL team this week.

The way I see it VIck is small and frequently leaves his o-line protection. In the meantime my Giants have knocked five QB’s out of the game this season. If they can do that to Vick were are good.

I hated your first entry and havnt returned to this site until now. Bravo! Your cracks on the Lions and Randy Moss were pretty funny.

The Bills might be dissapointed in not going for the gold Detroit standard but they can console themselves with a franchise worst start in 26 years! That’s not bad at all!

No need to shake my head in shame at the Bills this week! BUT, Liverpool FC lost two straight blahhhhh

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brian-Thompson/524390192 Brian Thompson

Rafa ruined Liverpool. He’s also ruining Inter Milan…..which I don’t mind too much, being a Lazio fan and all.

I’d rather watch an NFL preseason game than the Grey Cup
