A “MIDDLE FINGER UP” FOR BLUE FELIX, MY NEW LEAST FAVORITE BAND

I’d never heard of Blue Felix before a couple of days ago; I’d wager almost no one had heard of ‘em. But Slipknot’s Sid Wilson appears in their new video, for the song “Middle Finger Up,” so suddenly they were on every metal site in the webernetosphere.

When the song started, I was like, “Oh, okay. So they make Misfits-tinged hard rock and wear ridiculous outfits. They’re the Murderdolls. Got it. That’s not the end of the world.”

And then the dude started singing.

And then the dude started rapping.

And then I closed my laptop and used it to beat ten MetalSucks Mansion Monkeys to death. And, no, I don’t care what Vince says, I will not clean up the carrions.

Are you happy, Blue Felix? The blood of those poor simians is on your hands. I demand that you break-up immediately to repent. Better have the singer’s vocal chords surgically removed, too, y’know, just to be safe and ensure that he can never harm anyone ever again.

Also, note to dudes from Slipknot: Please stop making it so hard for me to defend Slipknot. Really, I didn’t mind in 2004, but I just don’t have the energy for this shit anymore.

          I had seen Blue Felix around Minneapolis for a few years… Drawing about 500 + per show…
          I also was asked to tour manage for them over the summer.
          They put on a great live show and the crowd loves them.
          Love them or hate them, you’ve gotta respect the hustle.
          PS- Opinions are like assholes… Everybody has one, and baring it in public isn’t always the brightest idea…. You end up looking like an ass.

      whats funny is the lead singer has make up on and its covering the tattoo on his face of basicaly his faces skull structure…if that makes sense youd have to visit thier myspace or something to see it.. if you think this song sucks wet donkey balls you should hear thier older shit… I personally had to share the stage with them multiple times and everytime I couldnt stand listening to them and had to go outside they suck and the gimmick they use is retarded.. they suck so much I cant believe MS even gave them the time of day…. the video production is very good tho for being nobodies but they have Sid and The Clown to thank for that…. You should see them perform with Sid and Izzy Dunfore HOLY SHIT thats even worse…. but hey Sid grew up here in IOWA during a time of great excess of meth and other drugs..mainly alot of METH so he isnt all there anymore if ya know what Im sayin..

    These guys are amazing live. There’s so much fucking bullshit metal out there. Who cares if they’re nu-metal ish. Everyone liked nu-metal until it because cool to not like it. Video has awesome energy and the band is making waves. I ‘m going to pick up the album and at least give it a listen before instantly bashing them on the internet.

    Disembodied had their place… 20 years ago….
    Now, they can’t even sell out a 100 person cap coffee house in the States.
    Blue Felix doesn’t give a shit if they aren’t “metal” enough for you haters…
    This isn’t middle school and metal points don’t count for shit-
    I spent a month and a half in a tour bus with Blue Felix and I saw first hand what their crowds were like….
    To describe it in one word: Frenzied.
    It was really refreshing for me, a veteran of large corporate rock tours, to see a young band with such fire, delivering a punishing show every night.
    They were always gracious to me, their road crew and all their fans that would come out to meet and greets at Hard Rock, Best Buy, Hot Topic, etc.
    I think this is exactly what the rock scene in this country needs… Good old fashioned, dirty, theatrical hard rock/metal.
    It makes you feel good!
    Go see them live! I promise you’ll be hooked.

    You get your ass to the movie theatre to see the show.

    have you heard the entire album? no.

    i saw these guys live, picked up their entire album. they are young dudes! in the mid 20′s!! i wonder what all you lazy tards are/were doing in your mid 20′s. Probbaly not making music with a member from Slipknot. Probbaly not opening up for Marilyn Manson.
    These guys are blowing up huge, in a good way, they got some MASSIVE support, not only in the slipknot camp, but from other camps that will soon be revealed, dare i say Marilyn Manson? theres a reason why slipknot and marilyn manson are who they are today, they know their shit, and they know their shit about these guys. Blue Felix are like these new age, rock-nu-metal-punk rockers. They’ve been doing this shit for awhile, and they won’t go away, cause they are true to themselves, like the music they play and could give TWO shits about what everyone else things. Hence their single “middle finger up”……i didn’t see a bunch of people bash KORN when they came out with “you all want a single, say fuck that”.

    And whats all this shit about ICP? these guys aren’t even doing the same crowds. they are for the Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, new metal rock groove crowds. hell, im into DEATH METAL and i like these guys.

    By the way, It’s a smart move if you see a bunch of silly juggalos at a concert to give them a “whoop whoop” or whatever, why the hell not. respect your audience, regardless what clown cult or whatever they belong too. It’s music buisness.

      1. Unlike a lot of other forms of media, I think it’s pretty damn legitimate to hear one song from a band and figure they’re not for you. Might be closed-minded, not necessarily wrong. Hell, with some bands it takes a few seconds.

      2. The age thing does nothing to change my opinion. The guys from Protest the Hero, Evile, and (I believe) The Faceless are all in their 20s, and their music is worlds better than this stuff.

      3. People support shitty things, look at the Bush administration. For all anyone knows they just have a really good booking agent.

      4. Being true to themselves doesn’t sell albums or make their music anymore listenable. I might think Metallica are a bunch of sellouts but I’d still rather listen to Death Magnetic over this crap.

      5. Making fun of ICP is kinda like watching Gene Simmons whore his products out with a straight face: never gets old.

        Some bands DO only take on song to judge by or even a few seconds..sure when EVERYTHING they do sounds identical to every other thing they do.
        Blue Felix don’t do that IMO this track sounds nothing like the rest of their material I’ve heard.

        All im saying is, i admire the punk attidude that BLUE FELIX carries and their album. To be honest, I went and saw this show, I never heard of Blue Felix, when they walked on stage…i was like… “ohhh god…who the fuck are these whacked out fucks”. As soon as they started playing, I instantly changed my mind. The singer was hanging off the ceiling, litearlly, upside down, they were just crazy, relentess, it was a great show of metal and theatre……very similar to how slipknot and MM do their thing. When i go to a show to see a band live, i wanna see something different, BLUE FELIX totally changed my mind within minutes of seeing them live.

        I actually LISTENED to the Protest the Heroalbums. How come Slipknot or Marilyn Manson didn’t back Protest the Hero? Some of my friends have worked with that band (Protest the Hero) and WERE fans of them….until after their 2nd album. I’m actually laughing that out of ALL the bands you mentioned, you bring that band into play. Come on dude…

        Blue Felix have ALOT of street credit among bigger industry bands. On a final note, honestly, give their album a listen too, even after the show, i was not 100% sold, but was interested enough to hear what their cd was, i bought it, plopped it in my car, and was sold. Some tracks on the album sound NOTHING like this song. It’s such a crazy diverse mix of sounds/genres. Some tracks even sould like a Pink Floyd song, ramped up on death metal with funk thrown in.

I’ve seen, After the Burial, Your Memorial, Nehemiah, Iron Thrones, The Crinn, No Wings to Speak Of, Reaping Asmodia, Said the Shot gun to the head, With dead hands rising, Gallows Burden, Nostalia, For Blood, Orwell, Australis, and countless other Minnesota bands at venues from The Cabooze, Station 4, Triple Rock, First Ave, The Fallout to basements, community centers and evena few churches.

          Hundreds of shows since this bands first formed and I have never seen or heard of them. Never even seen a flyer for them.

            Blue Felix is putting asses in seats, selling a fuck ton of merch and discs, travel in a 45 ft tour bus, have multi-platinum and Grammy Award winning musicians behind them, have pro gear, pro management, agents, tour managers and play on huge national shows and tour the country.
            Meanwhile, all the haters sit home and piss and moan on Facebook about how Blue Felix isn’t metal…
            Do the math.

    These guys have come through my town a few times in the last couple years. My band has even been on the same bill as BF a time or two. Yeah they look rediculous, shit man the lead singer used to have a 2 foot high double Mohawk. But all in all I got to have a few beers with a few of them and they’re pretty cool dudes.

    Funniest part is everyone calling them Nu-Metal based on this one track.
    They are in no way shape or form Nu-Metal , once you’ve heard the entire album there is no way you could describe them as Nu-metal unless of course you’re a complete moron. After hearing the entire album several times I’d say they sound something like Danzig meets Type-O. But that’s just me, but certainly no way on earth would I call the album Nu-Metal more like heavy biker rock IMO

    Blue Felix fucking sucks ass! They’re a bunch of RICH INDIANS! I know I’m originaly from the same town as them, Prior Lake MN. The only reason they’ve made it this far is because of their money! There is sooooooo much more talent in Minnesota that should be getting attention rather that Blue Felix!

    I’m a huge fan of Blue Felix. They have great music and they play great shows. This song is, in my opinion, one of their worst songs. They didn’t want to do a video for this song, management did. This song is simply just a filler song to keep people going. Maybe if you listened to some of their other songs, you wouldn’t have such a stick up your ass.

    Face it, you hate them because of what they look like. When the fuck did metal get so political?

    AND FOR THE MONEY THING. Are you fucking kidding me? The bassist is my brother-in-law and he’s barely scraping by. The rest are HARD WORKING motherfuckers. Mechanics, bartenders, etc. Sure, they have connections, but WHO THE FUCK DOESN’T?! How else do you think people get noticed? Pure, raw talent? NO FUCKING WAY. Not these day, folks.     I just seen Blue Felix last night. I wasnt sure of what to think of them before the show. But now, Id pay top dollar to see these guys in concert. They rocked the house better then alot of big names bands I’ve seen there. Anyone that wants to put them down are a bunch of narrow minded assholes who would know good music if it was shoved up your pathetic asses.
