HASTE THE DAY KICK THE BUCKET

Haste the Day are calling it a, uh, day. I was never a fan of the band, who I think were a slightly-above-average “verb the noun” metalcore group. (In fact, the last time I even mentioned them, it was when another “verb the noun” band, Destroy the Runner, broke up.) But I know this news will make someone sad. I don’t know who that someone is, and given the number of e-mails we’ve gotten about the split (one), I don’t think that that someone even reads our site, but he or she is out there somewhere.

From the “buh-bye” post on HTD’s official website:

“There are many reasons why HTD is ending, however we mainly feel as though we have created the best music we can and believe it is now time for us to move on to the next stage of our lives. I remember when this band started a decade ago, we wanted to be like the Solid State/Tooth and Nail Records bands we grew up idolizing. We wanted to use our passion for heavy music and the love that God put in us to be a light in the underground scene; letting people know they are loved, important, forgiven no matter what, and capable of using their gifts to serve their fellow man.”

I don’t know how the underground scene will ever continue without the light that was Haste the Day. Portal certainly aren’t gonna let people know that they are loved, important, forgiven no matter what, and capable of using their gifts to serve their fellow man, that’s for damn sure. But somehow, heavy music will find a way to survive. It will be hard, but we will persevere.

ANYWAY, if you were a fan of the band, they’re apparently planning a farewell tour for February/March of next year. We’ll update you with dates for that tour never.
