HOPE YOU WEREN’T TOO EXCITED ABOUT THAT A PERFECT CIRCLE REUNION

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 at 4:00pm by

‘Cause earlier this week, Billy Howerdel sent out the below tweet:

Some are interpreting this message to mean “APC are breaking up again;” at best, it means that if APC are going to continue, it’s not happening immediately. Which certainly seems odd, given that the band has only officially been back together for less than three months.

Of course, there’d be no confusion if everyone would communicate with their fans in more than 140 characters. I know that Twitter, like a lot of social networking tools, is supposed to lower the barrier between artists and regular folk, but the amount of confusion it can cause is almost funny. Zach Shaw at Metal Insider points out that APC also used Twitter to tease their return back in August, but I’m referring more to incidents like System of a Down bassist Shavo Odajian accidentally blowing his wad about the reunion a little prematurely. I dunno. Maybe the lesson is just that publicists and publicists only should control Twitter accounts, but that would kinda defeat the purpose. The bottom line is, it’s almost a dick move to send out a tweet like this and not provide any clarification for fans. Don’t just leave us hanging, Billy!

Oh well. I guess the silver lining in all of this is that if APC are done for the second time now, Maynard James Keenan can concentrate on that which is truly important: Tool.

I don’t see the appeal of any of these bands…anyone care to enlighten me on the best songs by Tool, APC, and Ashes Divide?

    • Boob

if you don’t see it, then don’t worry about it…

but just for the sake of an answer, the best tool songs are: all of them

I can’t say I care much for the other two bands (i don’t dislike them, just ain’t my thing)

    • legato

for tool, i think sober and lateralus are good songs. they’re my favorites.
but yeah, all of their songs are great.

      • Slaughterhouse

Sober is the most overplayed Tool song following closely by is Stinkfist. You should check out some more obsure gems like Pushit, Third Eye, Reflection, Wings for Marie…But like Boob said, they are all great. And I would take that opinion about A Perfect Circle as well. Ashes Divide sounds like APC w/ a different singer from what I’ve heard which makes sense as Billy writes the music for APC and Ashes Divide, only difference is that Billy sings in AD and Maynard sings for APC

i think there’s always a reason why a song is played over and over.
sober is a good song WITH commercial appeal. i tend to like songs that have at least a bit of commercial appeal.

maybe maynard can get back to his real passion of seeing how many dicks he can fit in his mouth now.

  • blahblah

they already said they plan to do an east coast run next year in april. youre making a big deal out of nothing.

  • hyperkulturemia

Coulda swore they were holed up in a LA studio sometime back tracking demos or something. Not that I give a shit either way.

  • sex robot

it only says the end of the 2010 tour..it’s December so that would make sense. I’m sure they will be back in 2011

    • shotkocker

      amen

  • The Curmudgeon

They broke up at some point?

I thought Ashes Divide (I refuse to spell it with that retarded lower-case D) was done after the first album pretty much tanked. Anyway, I think a new Tool album should come before a new APC, if that is in fact what he’s gonna do now.

  • huntermc

Am I the only one looking forward to a new Puscifer album? Yes. Yes I am the only one.

    • Blargh

I, too, am looking forward to this. I don’t know if there’s anything to look forward to though. One of the best shows ever.

  • JP

He was already planning on focusing on Tool…I’m kind of seeing them in January.

    • twistedfreak

      hell yea BDO!

  • Fufkin

Tool time now. IT;s got to be. Glad to see Ashes Divide are an ongoing concern though.

  • Ben

This is retarded. In one of those full, more than 140 words, actual interview things, Howerdel said that his time was going to be divided between APC and Ashed Divide. He said that Maynard’s was going to be split between APC, Puscifer and Tool. This is not news.

  • Paul

There is exactly ONE truly good song on the Ashes Divide record (yes, I bought it): “The Prey.”

The rest of the record is an APC-lite snoozefest.

Also, the last APC record was a huge, steaming turd. Don’t you just love it when a borderline douchebag front-man lets everything go to his head, takes over, and decides to release an “ironic” covers album? Yeah, me neither.

It’s a good thing the last couple of Tool records were actually fairly good, otherwise the world would have absolutely no use for Maynard James Keenan.
