Welcome to “Question of the Week,” a (sometimes) weekly debate amongst the MetalSucks staff regarding a recent hot button issue.

We didn’t solicit a “Question of the Week” from our writers this week, since everyone is still getting back and settled after the holidays. So, since we’ve only had one reader-suggested QOTW ever, this seemed like an ideal time to ask you, the MetalSucks Maniacs:

WHAT SHOULD THE QUESTION OF THE WEEK BE?

Let’s consider this an official thread to suggest questions for now. Axl and Vince will then look through all the suggestions, and assuming anyone asks something better than “What does Eyal Levi’s dick taste like?”, perhaps the MetalSucks Media Mavens will address it in a future column.

And the real Question of the Week will return one week from today… we promise.

      Great question!! According to the new Decibel, it’s slated for a summer release. I’m biding my time because I have no doubt it’ll be the best metal release of 2011. Here’s hoping it comes out in May or June as opposed to July or August, but the wait will no doubt be worth it.

    I’m gonna go back to what I wrote a few posts back about re-thrash. Everyone seems to be ragging on this, and for no other reason that I can really see than it’s a trend (kind of like why we all rag on deathcore, metalcore, crabcore, your-mom-core, whatever). All I want to know is for a genre that seems to have some skilled musicians, and that makes really fun records, why the hatred?

    Pretty cliche but what release are you looking forward to most?

    Can you separate an artist’s music from the artist?

    IE If they have fucked up ideology or whatever, can you still enjoy the music?

    It’s a stereotypical one, but I find it quite interesting.

    Has the dexterity of metal musicians and the technicality of metal music reached a pinnacle? Upon hearing some of today’s finest, it’s hard to imagine metal getting any faster, complex or more difficult. If it did, what would that even sound like? And if it truly HAS reached terminal velocity, what direction will metal songwriting take in the future?

    What would you consider to be the “Chinese Democracy” of metal.

    Two immediate bands that come to mind are Wintersun with “Time” and Necrophagist with whatever the hell their new album is supposed to be called.

    Which band do you think NEEDS to drop an album in 2011? For the sake of the listeners or the sake of their careers, or both.

    My pick: Twelve Tribes. The metal landscape could use a solid slab of thoughtful metallic hardcore. The last most pertinent thing I’ve heard in that field was Misery Signals’ “Controller”
