HEY-OOOO!!! Earlier this week, Darkest Hour unveiled the cover art for their new album, The Human Romance — and now they’ve debuted a new song from that forthcoming offering as well. In case you’re slow and didn’t get it from the headline, it’s called “Savor the Kill,” and you can check it out over at Noisecreep.

I’ve only had a chance to listen to it once and I’m still digesting it, but it definitely rocks… I would almost call this Darkest Hour’s more melodic side, except I don’t wanna scare away the tr00s too bad, ’cause it’s not like the band suddenly added good cop/bad cop vocals or anything.

In any case, check it out here, and then come back and let us know whatcha think. The Human Romance was produced by the one n’ only Peter Wichers, and comes out February 22 on eOne.

    It’s kinda dull

sounds very soilwork, but that riff is killer

More melodic and slower, but it still retains that DH vibe and sound. I’m loving it personally but hopefully they didn’t tread to far into this play style with the new record. Badass mind you, but much more laid back than previous songs.

I dont think the tr00ps give a shit

  • Spanky

I really like it, I’m now looking forward to this album a whole lot more

  • el fucko

like a much more melodic version of something off of Undoing Ruin, I like it.

  • jadedkid

im going to reserve judgment until ive heard the album as a whole because in that MI interview they said that’s how this album should be “experienced”. but i definitely hope the majority of the album is faster and darker. this song’s got me a little nervous that i might have built this album up too much in my head

its just one song man….a badass one at that.

Reminds me of the In Flames song Lord Hypnos for some peculiar reason. not bad. Hope the rest of the album is different though.

    • TheSkunkCatcher

I feel the same way, it reminds me of in flames too. I hope the rest of the album is different because on its own this song is good but I could see it see the album getting boring if every song sounds like this.

nice! love this band, but the last album bored me to death. this sounds killer!

Yea i didn’t fall in love with a single track from that album, which sucked because Deliver Us is one of the finest albums i’ve ever heard. Maybe it was just the Kris Norris influence.

i love the harmonies. darkest hour are great at taking fairly basic riffs and making them into great songs.

    Schenkeltown lives!

I do like the vocals a lot, they sound more old school DH

  • rv

I have never been able to get into DH. Their vocalist has always killed it for me.

But this on the other hand is really good. The production is god damn killer and I’m saying that after hearing it through shitty work speakers. But then again Peter Wichers produced it so there is no real suprise there as he is a great producer in my opinion.

Anyways, I think this song is great. From a guy that has never really listened to them due to their style of vocals, I am very interested in hearing the rest of the album.

yeah i always struggled w/ john henry vocals. mostly because he was entirely unintelligible – heavy vocal are cool but i, personally, like to be able to make a few words out.

have a listen to deliver us. his vocals are tolerable on that record and the music more than compensates. good record.

      hopefully this one is similar

SO MUCH BETTER SOUNDING THAN THE ETERNAL RETURN

And I mean that nicely since I believe they recorded that themselves if memory serves me correct. I’m not even all the way through the song to know I’m going to like this cd. Darkest Hour is one of my favs.

To me this sounds exactly how they described, a good mix of old and new. It really has a little bit of everything. To those worried that the cd might be too slow, you must not listen to very much DH. They always seem to have a mix of both so this shouldn’t be a huge shocker.

False, So Sedated, The Mark of the Judas, Hiddens Hands, and Undoing Ruin all prominently feature faster songs

      • Matt

And they have slower songs so fuck off

  • Chris

Awsome song, the guitar work reminds me alot of old In Flames circa Jester Race and Whoracle, and thats a good thing. Production is totally kickass, I am definitely going to buy this album the day it comes out.

    Nice Killswitch Engage cover guy

the only thing that bothers me about DH nowadays is that they all have long hair now.

  • ITTOA666

It’s not bad, but I haven’t been too into them since undoing ruin.

im liking it… they’ve been around a while and they always put on a great live show… looking forward to the cd and the next tour…

Well I’m glad that they look like metalheads now, instead of a group of frat boys sitting at the local bar.

The song is better than most of Eternal Return, which was an album missing one key ingredient: melody. Typically I hate melody in death metal; but Darkest Hour is one of, maybe five bands that know how to pull it off well.
