THE ATTICUS METAL TOUR: PROS OUTWEIGH CONS

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 at 10:30am by

If you told me there was a tour with Born of Osiris and As Blood Runs Black, I’d probably tell you to have a nice time and let me know how it was. And if you told me that there was a tour with Darkest Hour and The Human Abstract, I’d probably trample your grand ma to get there. I mean, I’m sure she’s a nice lady, but she ain’t no Darkest Hour and The Human Abstract live, y’know?

As it stands, though, all four of these bands will be doing one tour together:

But y’know what? I am not going to bitch about two bands I love touring with two bands I feel lukewarm on, because, hey, at least it’s not two bands I love touring with two bands I hate, y’know? I haven’t seen Born of Osiris live since, uh, I think it was 2007, right when The New Reign came out, and at the time, I was actually pretty impressed — I didn’t sour on them until later, and even then, it was for reasons really having nothing to do with their live show; and I’ve never seen ABRB live, so I can’t talk any smack there, even if I don’t quite understand all the hype that once surrounded that band. So I’ll still take this over a Mayhem Fest or whatever, where I’d have to slog through who knows how many crappy bands just to see Slayer, any day of the week.

Dates are as follows… some of ‘em even have additional bands, like This or The Apocalypse and Sleeping Giant, on the bill:

Looks like an okay tour. I wouldn’t go to it, the only band i like somewhat is Darkest Hour. You could defintiely do worse though.

Waiting for the inevitable “They rule live. Learn what you’re talking about” rant to appear at some point.

As if a band being good/bad live has any impact on the quality of their recorded output.

The last BOO album was actually fantastic. As blood runs black has to get through their marital issues before anyone can care about them again. (they played live in my hometown to less than 100 kids, which is sad)

  • Driven9

I’ll pass on Darkest and ABRB. But def. excited to see Human Abstract and BoO at Harpos.

thats what im saying! i know boo gets a bad rep here, but i do actually like their music too. in fact, i liked both albums. thats as core as i get, though. id mostly be there for tha, but boo would be cool to see again. dh and abrb get the meh from me. dh has good music, but their lyricist has always been one of my least favs, and their music has always been too straight forward. some can say boo has boring music, but i find even their breakdowns intriguing. i could never get em straight. plus ive never seen minette with tha, and wouldnt mind seeing richardson shred with boo!!!!

I love Darkest Hour but will be avoiding this tour like the plague.
I’m 99% certain that California Metal Fest is going to be extra horrible as well =/
