VILDHJARTA: I CAN’T PRONOUNCE IT, BUT I CAN CRANK IT

Thursday, January 20th, 2011 at 11:00am by

With all our talk about djent, I can’t believe we’ve never written anything about Vildhjarta. A bunch of you have definitely e-mailed us about them before, but we get a lot of fucking e-mails, so, uh, shame on us but we were busy, too, y’know? Anyways, I stumbled across this song, “Don’t Fail Me Now (Lady Luck),” quite by accident last night, and I’m into it. I could live without the clean vocals, but that may just be because I’m a cranky old man who thinks that that clean vocals need to go the way of Jerry Falwell (or otherwise bands should just make like Cloudkicker and cut it the fuck out with the vocals altogether).

Anyway, it seems like the band is unsigned, but that doesn’t really mean much in this day and age, and it’s easy enough to find a copy of their EP, Omnislaught, if you want it. You can also check out the band’s MySpace page. They’re Swedish, so I guess maybe that country is trying to make a comeback or something.

Enjoy another song from Omnislaught, “Shiver,” after the jump.

You all should go to their myspace and listen to the first song on their player. Its a preview of their upcoming album. Its only like 40 seconds but it made me shit my pants! I havnt been looking forward to an album like this for a long time.

totally agree… but this other instrumental track that they have called TRACES’ is just insane…

  • Robert

    This is a joke, right?

  • Charlie

It says Omnislash on the video, where’s Omnislaught coming from?

FFVII are fine by me, btw.

yeah ive been delving into these guys cuz of the top popular djent bands list at got-djent.com

i missed this song so, so thanks alot hahahaha

I beshatt myself when i first war’s them, then they got a vocalist and i took my shit back. Just another pissed emo kid who earned how to scream to fight back from getting his ass kicked by metalheads in high school. Periphery, Tesseract, etc. all of em have the same style. I didn’t like it when it was called Mnemic. This “new shit” is already played out for my taste.

    • Strapping Young Lad

Comparing these guys to Periphery is a bit of a stretch. Tesseract has some similarities, especially when comparing Concealing Fate Pt. 2: Deception with Shiver.

Mnemic, however, has sucked since Passenger.

      • Dee

passenger sucked. sons of the system was an amazing album!!!

  • datrick

Vildhjarta rules. Their full length “Irreversible” comes out some time this year.

also, i do believe its pronounced vuild – heart – uh

  • Major Zim

damn this might be the first time i knew about a band before MS. And yea it is omnislash not omnislaught. slaught isnt even a word to the best of my knowledge. Also i love the clean vocals BECAUSE this guy doesnt sound like a pussy. yea there’s high notes but he has to reach for those (unlike periphery’s resident eunuch). Unless you can ACTUALLY do better them him now would be the time to shut the fuck up and enjoy the incredible music.

    • The I

      Agreed.

      Word dude.

  • cyrollan

    Is Djent the next deathcore?

    • Jon

Yes, and that totally sucks. And I actually like some of these bands, including Vidhjarta!

Sweden needs to make a comeback? You’d think that with Opeth and Meshuggah that’s enough for Sweden’s credibility.

      Mmmhmm.

  • MonochromicSound

First song was like, a mix of djent and deathcore it seemed. That riff reminded me of Meshuggah, then the vocalist came in, and it just reminded me of a deathcore band.

Second song sounds like another -core derivative.

How much did these guys pay you?

    • Rik

I’m not hearing much core here… But I do think that the term “djentcore” should start being thrown at bands who do veer too much in that direction.

I’ve been diggin’ on this band for a year or two now. I love these guys.

Absolutely love these guys and have since I found them last summer. I’ve been looking forward to Irreversible for far too long now. Not sure why all the hate for the vocals, but I suppose one is allowed an opinion.

  • Robert

No, seriously. It’s gotta be a joke, right?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josh-Gunderson/558802108 Josh Gunderson

Like. Reminds me a bit of Meshuggah.

Their lp was supposed to come out in fall 2010. and since then I’ve heard nothing. I’m convinced Necrophagist’s album will come out before Vildhjarta’s
