TRENT REZNOR ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS, WILL NOT BE WORKING ON STUPID ABE LINCOLN VAMPIRE FLICK

When word got out that Academy Award Winner Trent Reznor would be working on the upcoming film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, some of us fans were understandably a little bummed. For one thing, FUCK VAMPIRES, and for another, for Reznor to follow-up working on back-t0-back film projects with the makers of Fight Club, No Country for Old Men, Schindler’s List and The West Wing with a project being made by the dude who made a movie about how bullets don’t have to fly in a straight line and Angelina Jolie’s ass, well… it felt kinda like Trent disbanding Nine Inch Nails to go join Orgy.

Well, hey, guess what? Turns out Trent isn’t working on that movie after all, in any capacity. Here’s the explanation he gave on the official NIN message boards:

“Don’t believe everything you read. As it turns out, I WON’T be working on (acting or scoring) ALVH after all. There’s no juicy story here, it’s just that when the news mysteriously leaked out about my involvement I hadn’t made up my mind completely, because various aspects of the project were changing. I felt the need to say something earlier this week because my inbox was filling up with speculation, and at that moment I thought I would be doing it. Confused yet?Apparently I am.

“Bottom line, I wish them the best with the film and I’m sure it will still be great.

“Also, in all the excitement of the last note I forgot to mention we’re still fully engaged with the Year Zero mini-series, writing away.”

HOO-RAY! This is all around terrific news.

And with regards to that Year Zero mini-series he references… you may recall that he’s been trying to get that off the ground since 2008. I wonder if his recent Oscar win will now give him the clout to actually do it?

“You look big — you been liftin’?”

  • Dirtman73

When the hell is he gonna get started on that Year Zero adaptation? Screw the rest of his projects.

I think you’re letting the Twilight thing ruin your view on vampires in fiction too much. Do yourself a favour and watch 30 Days of Night. It’s not perfect but it’s still a good flick about portraying vampires as actual monsters, and not as teen idols or even handsome adult males who seduce beautiful women (Dracula, Queen of the Damned, etc.).

    • Dirtman73

30 Days of Night is okay, but a better vamp movie would be Near Dark or the original Nosferatu. Or Let The Right One In. Or The Thirst. Or maybe even Daybreakers, but I’m still on the fence as to how good that one is.

Point is, Axl seems to be a vampire movie newb. He needs to broaden his horizons a little.

      • Anthony

        And yeah, Daybreakers was decent.

    • Noel

…you do know the guy who did 30 days of night did Twilight Eclipse right?

      • Anthony

What does that have to do with anything? Directors can only do so much with the material they’re given. I guess we shouldn’t consider Seven, Fight Club, Social Network, or Zodiac good films because David Fincher was also responsible for Alien 3, following your logic.

        • Noel

However are they forced to do movies, I highly doubt it, they want to make movies based on what’s popular, or might think is cool. And to me 30 days of night was an abortion, I’m sure David Slade took Eclipse for some type of restitution.

People make bad films once in a while though, or make mostly bad films and then make that one great film before making shitty films again.

I mean, Sylvester Stallone directed Rocky which was awesome, but also directed the Expendables, which was not awesome. Doesn’t make Rocky any less of a movie.

I thought the remake was every bit as good. It’s frame for frame almost exactly the same.

  • Metalguy

So does that mean we can finally stop seeing posts about stories only you seem to care, or at the very least get so upset over? “Oh no Trent does silly movie scores to get paid, his image is ruined in my eyes!”

  • Sickboy666

Yeah, what’s up with this “FUCK VAMPIRES” shit? Just ignore fucking Twilight.

  • Isaac

Fuck vampires? Fuck you. The book was still awesome.
For the record, the ones in Twilight aren’t really vampires. More accurately, they’re shiny, infectious leech-people.

    • Klazin

      Agreed. The book was amazing!

So they really are going to make some kind of show out of Year Zero?

I was kind of hoping so the first time I saw how they were marketing said album.
