FEAR, EMPTINESS, DECIBEL: LISTEN TO A BRAND NEW NAPALM DEATH SONG!!!

Thursday, March 17th, 2011 at 4:00pm by

Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…

The fifth installment in the Decibel Flexi Series arrives in the May 2011 ish, and as some of you already know, it’s a brand new face-ripper from Napalm Death, “Legacy Was Yesterday,” their first new material since 2009’s Time Waits for No Slave. Aside from the prospect of Wilson Valdez starting the season at second base for his favorite baseball team, this is easily the best thing to happen to our editor-in-chief in 2011 so far. Anyway, Napalm kicked out this jam especially for Decibel, so not only will you not hear “Legacy” anywhere else, but hopefully (since it rules), it’ll be a preview of the new album, which they’re writing probably this very second. Take a test drive right here.

And, of course, if you’re hopping on the Flexi train late, that doesn’t mean you can’t catch up, either via 2011’s non-sold-out back issues, or sampling the fear and emptiness via stream.

This song is so good it’s not even funny. Barney is reaching new heights here. Time Waits… was phenomenal.

  • Sylvester

    Damn!
    1. I’m fucking glad I’m a subscriber! Bringing flexi discs back is one of the coolest things any magazine has done lately, and Decibel is already a great mag to begin with.

    2. That ND track sounds absolutely violent and vicious! Barney sounds absolutely pissed! ND is one of the greatest metal bands ever, and they still manage to put out killer music this far into their career.

  • Ron Deuce

Three things are for sure in life-death, taxes and Napalm Death!

  • msv81

I LOVE THIS FUCKING BAND!!!!!!!!!! This is as brutal and amazing as anything they’ve done in the past. Nearly 30 years into their career they’re still proving why they’re the kings of grind! Bring on the new record. Holy fuck this song is good.

  • Mark warlord white

Napalm Death, just simply the best band in the world !!!

  • mongorian

Holy shit that is sweet, still one of the best death metal bands in the world

  • Adam

I’m liking the grittier vocals on this one. Better than anything on the last album.

  • napalmandy
