MetalSucks is proud to once again be sponsoring the best mega-package tour of the summer — Summer Slaughter, of course! As you can see from the above poster, the mini-fest’s organizers have once again put together line-up that show cases a who’s who of the current metal scene.

And they’re taking it one step further this year — they’re letting YOU, the fans, decide who the last band added to the bill should be! Go to the official Summer Slaughter Facebook page to cast your vote.

Cities and dates for the tour will be announced on 4/20. ‘Til then… get ready to get slaughtered…

          greatest band ever goes to whitechapel! I went to the 2008 show and they completely kicked ass. Dahlia headlined that show and put on one of the best concerts Ive ever seen. all in all—-amazing line up!

        Definitely not attending this. Which is why I have such high hopes for the Exhumed and Macabre tour.

If you haven’t given it a listen then you are cheating your ear drums out of an orgasm. Honestly, i shall agree that fetus’s last few albums have been week, destroy the opposition was alright, stop at nothing was bleh, and war of attrition sounded tired. But Descend into Depravity is so over the fucking top, deffinatly check it out.

            Old Arsis is pretty standard death metal. Black Dahlia’s always had some hardcore influence that makes their songwriting really catchy. Arsis has never jumped out at me like Black Dahlia does.

      Personally, every time I’ve seen TBDM they’ve put on the most amazing show ever. I’m at a loss of words for the sad, current state of “metal”, but TBDM has yet to disappoint me and sell out like every other band with a lack of originality.

      Most new bands sound like bands I stopped listening to because they sounded too similar to other bands I stopped listening to. No one has anything new to offer. Metal has become stagnant.

        i completely agree. i have seen them live 7 times and each time is just amazing. they have progressed with their sound since Unhallowed and now with a new more technical guitarist Ryan Knight i am anticipating their next album. TBDM have stayed true to their roots. if other bands are “clones” its only because of influence and they will never be as good.

      People should know by now, that Whitechapel is taking over, if you haven’t seen in the last year. I realize, people like real death metal like Cannibal Corpse, but you have to remember that those bands have been around along time now, and I personally think they should get their own tour. The Summer Slaughter yes is now aimed at a younger crowd, so what? Why waist your time complaining about it, when there is nothing you can do. Last year Summer Slaughter had a lot more older bands on the tour, so I don’t see why it’s a big problem having newer, and upcoming bands on the tour this year.

        Worth mentioning: Whitechapel, despite not sounding particularly awesome on albums, puts on a KILLER show. Saw ‘em with JfaC, Cattle Decapitation, and Gaza last year, definitely a great time.

      I love metal and I know how it feels to be really into the scene. You guys sound like a bunch of bitches if you think of metal in general its just a bunch of downtuned guitars and fast drums with someone screaming in the background. Why not give the new bands props for keeping the scene alive. I know how it feels when the kids only want deathcore style breakdowns and you sit next to the crowd and wonder if this is the only reason they come to the show. Why post that you are not going to go? It just doesnt make sense why not hold the comment in your mind where it belongs. In my opinion metal heads are a bunch of ass holes who cant make their mind up on what is a good band. This is just another corporate event controlled to make your money they dont care about the music thats why you opinions do not matter.

Last years lineup was like all death metal bands Summer Slaughter is aiming towards kids. They need money too. Black Dahlia Murder is pretty good for like New Death metal sound, Dying fetus is just fucking great with riffs that make you wanna kill a fetus, Fleshgod is good, Power glove too.       I think it’s because “scene kids” will gladly spend the money to go to the concert. And once they are there, they will drop another $75+ on merch, food, and drink. Big concerts like this are fueled solely by money, so they are going to have bands that bring in the most fans. Sadly, Whitechapel is huge right now (there’s no use in denying it), giving them a larger fanbase than a majority of the bands I’ve read people wishing for.

    Lots of hate already. While I agree that there are some shit bands I wouldn’t mind seeing TBDM, Darkest Hour, Dying Fetus, and Fleshgod Apocalypse (who are awesome live btw) all on the same bill. The other bands sets I see as a convenient time to refill my beer/check merch. If the tickets are reasonable I’ll go because who knows what the other summer tours are going to look like. Maybe I will be wrong this year but usually this is one of the better ones to go to.

    Oceano is the only really bad choice here. Sure you can hate on ABRB and Whitechapel for being deathcore if you want, but the rest of the lineup is still pretty respectable. And it’s a good variety of death metal, melodic death, metalcore, and deathcore.

    I guess I am just to old to buy into the self – righteous sentiment that it is acceptable to languish in the opportunity to be anonymously negative.

    This list of bands seems very fair to me. A little old school, a little new school, some melody and then some tech. I do not love every band on the list, but then again the world doesn’t revolve around me. This is a tour that’s full of variety and I for one can’t wait to rock out and have a good time at it.

    This is nothing compared to last year, but I’ll go since there’s still more good bands than bad. Not even a single Sumerian band? What I liked about previous lineups, even though I never got to attend anything other than an offdate, was both the variety and quality of the bands. Good death metal intermingling with good deathcore/metalcore is something there needs to be more of.

    I honestly dont see too much of a problem with the upcoming Summer Slaughter. I mean, it’s definantly too much core, but still, would you all rather do this or Mayhem fest and Warped Tour? XD
    plus, as much as I don’t honestly want to say this, Oceano is pretty decent, except for the fact all their music consists of nothing but heavy ass riffs over an over.
    BDM is sick. stoked to see them back. I dont see any core in them, theyre just a good somewhat mainstream melodeath band. ATLEAST WE DIDNT GET ANY ASKING ALEXANDRIA OR BRING ME THE HORIZON OR SOMETHING STUPID.

    LOLOL you guys are nerd raging SO HARD. Of course this tour was put together for money, EVERY SINGLE TOUR EVER was put together for money. They put certain bands with each other because they’ll sell more tickets. I’m in the promoting business, I know this. BDM is one of the most popular extreme metal bands in the world, and Whitechapel is on top of the HUGE deathcore market. Those two together = $$$.

    Personally I think this is a great line up and it sure beats the shit out of last year. You guys are getting all butthurt because it went to “d3athcoor shit!!11!!” but let me remind you that Veil of Maya, Red Chord, All Shall Perish, and a host of other shit deathcore acts were on last year. There were scene kids flailing like assholes during Vital Remains. Come on guys. Shit didn’t get real until Decapitated anyway. This line up is great and diverse, I really dig it. And I’m a huge BDM and Darkest Hour fan, so I’m totally stoked. You guys have my $25, no doubt.

There were some good six feet under material, I guess I will be glad to see Chris Barnes there unless he is not in the line up anymore or something but The rest is kinda shitty. As for the last band on there…. I would love to see Cannibal Corpse but I think there not on tour right now. I love the Trevor and Corpsegrinder duo. I would really love to see that new techdeathcore band Rings of Saturn. I don’t know about that last band but that line up is pretty shitty but I missed the last time TBDM came around and sitting through the line up is well worth it. Plus I hear they are playing some new material.

    Hmmmm. I don’t know about this one. For me it seems like too many of the bands that have done this tour before are being lumped on it once again. Last year’s was okay with Decapitation and All Shall Perish among the others, but the previous to that ruled the roost in my humble opinion as we had Suffocation, Ensiferum and I think even Blackguard (before they appeared on almost every show). It was different was my rationale.

    Most of the bands that have done this have a following already and are doing headlining appearances so they don’t need to be on a bill where they are playing for 20-25 minute sets. It’s not special at all and shows little out of the box thought about exposing a lot of newer bands to the crowds. I’m sure it will do well in the end, but even though I like a number of the bands on it, this does not sell me at all considering how daunting a day it ends up being.

    The Metal community needs to learn to change with the metal scene. I’m a fan of every genre except the really shitty deathcore. Oceano and ABRB suck but Whitechapel is really good live and they don’t have many scene kids. Plus old Death Metal has been around for a long time and the guys are starting to get old (Not their music). They don’t tour as much as these younger bands. This is the best metal fest in America right now so people don’t like it move to Europe.

    I will probably go to see Dying Fetus and Six Feet Under(not the best, really, but I’ve never seen their show, from what I’ve seen of Corpse with Barnes it is probably a worthwhile show). I expect Deathcore and shit like that to be mixed in with the old school on tours like this, I just drink in the parking lot while those bands are playing, see who I came to see, and then leave before the bullshit comes on.

    I personally think Fetus should be headlining, because I really don’t see the value in Black Dahlia Murder, to me they’re just another one of many bands that listens to “Slaughter of the Soul” too often.

    And Fleshgod fucking sucks…I saw them on tour with Suffocation and Decrepit when I was in NY for a while, and they were ABSOLUTELY the worst band there, I chain smoked while they were playing because I could not stand to listen to their shit.
