ALL SHALL PERISH LEAD THE “PROCESSION OF ASHES”

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 at 2:00pm by

One of the summer releases I’m most excited for is All Shall Perish’s This is Where it Ends, and thus far, the material we’ve heard leads me to believe that I won’t be disappointed.

The latest example: “Process of Ashes,” the new song the band is now streaming at Lambgoat. It sounds like a hybrid of Price of Existence-era ASP and Awaken the Dreamers-era ASP, and I mean that in the best possible way; I know there are fans who thought Dreamers wasn’t heavy enough, but I think the band actually did a fine job incorporating some more melodious elements into their work, and I’m glad to hear them building on that here. All Shall Perish are really turning out to be an fine example of artistic evolution done right.

Also: new guitarist Francesco Artusato continues to just murder it stone fucking dead, news which will surprise pretty much no one.

Headbang here, then let us know what you think in the comments section. This is Where it Ends comes out via Nuclear Blast on July 26. The band will be on this year’s Mayhem Fest, along with Megadeth, Machine Head, In Flames, Trivium, Unearth, Suicide Silence, Kingdom of Sorrow, Red Fang, and some other bands not worth mentioning. You can get dates here.

Only good song is Greyson, everything else is shitty deathcore, nothing special about it

  • Slaughterhouse

God damn, Im loving this. Can’t wait for the album

    • Slaughterhouse

Quarter note triplets for the win and that solo kicks ass. This song and their first one they released are very different. I can’t wait to hear the dynamics in this record

hells ya im digging this soooooo much. they have stepped their game up (Artusato probably helps), and i say that as a fan of everything they have done.

  • holy bad metal batman

    • twistedfreak

      Shit yes!

^ I completely agree. I love every album this band has put out. Awaken the Dreamers is criminally underrated.

        • flowers and rainbow kisses

          CRIMINALLY underrated…i concur, doctor

  • Random

Honestly I wish they would’ve stayed with the Awaken the Dreamers sound, it was non-typical deathcore, but the price of existence…. Not so much (not saying its bad, but more typical of deathcore) IMO at least…

  • Plasmaterial

This Italian guy can flat out shred. I thought the departure of Chris Storey was the end of these guys, but all seems OK. And the new drummer is rock solid.

Love this track, Awaken the Dreamers melodic-ness mixed with a bit more TPoE-esque brutality. But from what I’ve read, and previewing the album, it leans more towards TPoE in sound and style.
