REVOCATION SHRED YOU TO PIECES

A reader calling himself “J.A.M.” sent us the below video, the #1 Top Modern Metal Guitarist, Revocation’s Dave Davidson, and the not-rated-but-still-totally-wicked Dan Gargiulo, also of Revocation, stopping by the Jackson Showroom recently. And… they basically just play some Revocation tunes and discuss their guitars, but a) it makes a nice companion piece to the “Rigged” gear columns they recently wrote for us (read Dave’s here and Dan’s here), and b) that’s like saying “I hung out with Michelangelo today, he basically just painted and told me about the brushes he uses.”

In other words, this is worth watching.

Revocation are currently wrapping-up their MetalSucks-sponsored tour with Forbidden, Havok, and White Wizzard, but if you live in Denver, Albuquerque, Tempe, or Escondido, you haven’t missed out on this great bill yet!     Anyone who hates this band and David Davidson also hates fun. He incorporates the brutality of death metal, the fun of thrash, and embraces the whole 80s metal Rhoads (even though Jake E. Lee wrote the best Ozzy albums) vibe simultaneously. It’s not about mere shred/wank capability, it’s the ability to actually write a cohesive song. Have you all forgotten about the almighty riff?

      I love his guitar faces. That’s a key component to being a guitar hero. This guy is on his way to greatness. Plus, his name is David Davidson.

    You know a band is getting good when people start to hate. These guys rip and are some cool dudes, too. Had the chance of seeing them in a small club and I loved it. Great band.

    These guys are obviously good, and they look like they love what they do, so thats cool, but I liked this better when Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman were doing it =/

    I think they are great and they thoroughly get into their playing as you can tell by their faces. Thats what music should be about, having fun and writing killer songs. Not playing 32nd note tap arpeggios flawlessly. Davidson’s skills are great and remember, he didn’t list himself number 1. Metalsucks did and its just that, an opinion…Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink
