TOO SOON? GARY’S BEST HARDCORE OF 2011… SO FAR

Axl did one. Vince did one. Even Corey did one. So, of course, I’ve gotta do one, right?

2011 has been a pretty decent year for hardcore so far, with solid releases from artists old and new. Unsurprisingly, then, my picks at this point in the year reflect that dynamic. I intentionally excluded EPs (Jello Biafra’s latest, for example) and singles, as well as all the non-hardcore stuff I’ve enjoyed this year (J. Mascis’ blissful solo album). So, without further ado, here are my picks!

      You have clearly only heard of the deathcore crap Gary Suarez posted, such as Emmure and Winds of Plague. He actually did mention some great hardcore punk releases, such as Earth Crisis and Agnostic Front.

    The new AF and Earth Crises albums are great! And as above said,Trap Them! They will literally smash your fuckin face to bits! Emmure? Winds of Plague? That shits considered hardcore? Thinking some new Converge might be on the way also. I wish LIs Kill Your Idols would reform,release a scorching face melter! Miss those dudes!

    Hey Gary, Speaker of the Dead is pretty tight. It’s worth listening to for the production alone. The opening breakdown to Demons With Ryu hits like a ton of bricks.
