“MEDIA CONSUMPTION”: NEW PATHOLOGY SLAMZ 4 U

Friday, August 19th, 2011 at 12:40pm by

I’m not the resident Pathology fan around here, and I have no idea what Sergeant D. would make of the band’s new song, “Media Consumption,” which is now streaming on Lambgoat. But I actually really dig it, so I’m guessing he would hate it.

I’m not kidding when I say I dig it, either. The first time I listened to it, I was like, “Okay, diarrhea vocals and breakdown riffs, I get it.” Then it got to the guitar solo, and I was all, “WHOA, this solo is pretty sweet!” And then it got to the section after the guitar solo, and I realized I was head-bobbing in time with the music. And then I listened to the song again to make sure, and, yep — I like this.

So, there’s one of two possibilites here: either the song is terrible by slam standards, and thus Sergeant D. would hate it but non-slammers like myself will like it, or otherwise The Sarge is starting to have an influence on me. In which case, I look forward to actually enjoying Winds of Plague sometime in the near future.

Mosh here, then let me know if I’m going batty or what in the comments section. Pathology’s new album, Awaken to the Suffering, comes out September 13 on Victory.

The music sounds good but I don’t like my vocals to sound like someone is just doing an extremely long belch into the microphone.

  • Kuranes

The first time I heard Pathology was on the Metalsucks fanpack comp.  Not bad, but those vocals are totally ridiculous.

I took a shit this morning that sounded like this song

It’s a shame these guys are on victory, that breakdown kinda ruined the legitamacy of the song and I’m sure the label had something to do with it. All of you bitching about the vocals need to get your vaginas checked.

      I can see it now

Victory Records: hey guys put a breakdown in your new album

      Pathology: okay

I actually like the slam riffs in the beginning. Simple and effective. And you’re right, Axl, the part after the solo is pretty bitchin’, too.

  • Fred Durst

Pathology is actually not considered to be trve slam.

  • steal.money.for.drugs

    i’m moshing.

  • BlackIllusion

Surprised by Jonathan Huber’s vocals, in a good way. The album art sucks donkey balls but glad the music is still worth it.

    • Briggs

it goes with their last one pretty well, i like the art it really tells a story

Pathology rule.  Better than most of the shit propagated on this site on a daily basis.

Today on MS: Necroblaspheme, FNM, Portal, Bitter End, The Fucking Wrath, The Atlas Moth, WM# coverage, Pathology, Textures, Evan Brewer, and Times of Grace. Seems pretty fucking diverse to me.

How can deathcore be so shunned upon but this shit is loved? Most extreme metal has hard to decipher vox but this is a joke. However, to each their own

  • BillyBob

Fucking hell. You guys are actually promoting a band that isn’t either shitty ‘blackened thrash’ or ‘tech-death’.

the breakdown after the solo makes me a bit apprehensive about this, but i’m still interested enough to see how this goes

The vocals are just too over the top.  The previous dude could be disgusting while still having a sharp tone.  This is just gutteral nonsense.

The “breakdown” doesn’t really bother me but I hope that it’s one of the few times we see that on the album.

Pretty farking sweet. The vocalist is awesome in my opinion, really brutalizes the song. I just hope he doesnt try and write of that their is lyrics as such in there, it sounds huge, but those are not words! m/ m/

Lol @ people getting butthurt over the “breakdown”. What is this, 2008? Breakdowns are such a silly thing to complain about anymore. It’s groovy, it’s moshworthy, who cares if it’s a “breakdown”.

maybe it’s just a regional thing or me being really fucking old, but only heard them called “breakdowns” recently. we always called them “the mosh part”. but yeah, it’s not like they’re a recent invention.

look at it objectively… who the FUCK cares if it’s an open-chord-slightly-deathcore-reminiscent-breakdown. if you liked the first half of the song how could you possibly dislike the outro.
