THEY CALL GLORIOR BELLI “BLACK DEVIL”

I would not have expected a French black metal band to have a sense of humor, but I also wouldn’t have expected there be an earthquake in New York this week, so fuck expectations, I guess.

For their new video, “They Call Me Black Devil,” Glorior Belli have truly made a virtue of having no real budget of substance, simply by calling attention to their lack of funds, and doing so in a very funny way. My favorite part of this clip isn’t the letter from the band’s label, Metal Blade, at the start; it’s the guitar the dude is playing. I don’t wanna spoil the joke, I just want you to keep an eye on that instrument.

“They Call Me Black Devil” comes off of Glorior Belli’s The Great Southern Darkness, which Metal Blade will release on September 27.

      Yeah, but there’s no acoustic guitar in the song. So it’s something you can smile at, and maybe get a little chuckle out as well.

      Either way, the song is really cool.

      There are Strings on that guitar at 1:02, 1:13, 2:04, 2:21, 2:45, etc…

      In the sequence starting at 1:37 it appears there are no strings, but at 1:52 you can clearly see there ARE strings, it’s just the intentionally lousy quality of the video that makes it look like there are no strings. That is the reason there doesn’t appear to be strings in the opening sequence.

      That said, other than it’s an acoustic guitar in a video for a song with no acoustic guitar passages, I don’t see why I have to “keep an on that instrument”.
