GET READY FOR DEVILAMB OF GODRIVER

While we continue to wait for that Killcorpse Murder project with Adam D., Corpsegrinder, and Shannon Lucas to get off the ground, here’s another newly-teased supergroup to get you all hot under the collar.

Noisecreep noticed on Friday afternoon that DevilDriver vocalist Dez Fafara and Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton announced — via their respective Twitter accounts, natch — that they were collaborating on “a bunch of KILLER tunes,” with Circus of Power, Soundgarden, and Trouble being cited as influences. And, uh, I really have no idea what that would sound like. I hear the aural relationship between Trouble and Soundgarden, but Circus of Power is where I get thrown for a loop.

ANYWAY, on Saturday The PRP strung together a bunch more of Fafara’s tweets, which seek to clarify/update the news:

“Yes Mark Morton and I do have about 14 Songs Done or Sketched out it’s been work in progress for over 4 years and no it doesn’t sound at all like DD or LOG and like MARK said He himself ( Does NOT ) Know when or where it will see the light of day as it’s been a very PERSONAL work in progress and MARK is in full Control of WHEN or WHERE it will be heard – Except for our close friends that have been hearing it for years now. Hope this clarifies things”

It actually doesn’t clarify things at all, ’cause I dunno why they’d suddenly start discussing it in public if they’ve been working on it for four years and still have no sense of when it might be completed/released. I mean, I have a hard time believing they just woke up one day and were like “Let’s tell the world about this for no particular reason!” But I dunno, I waited for that whole Tapeworm project for nearly a decade and we all know how that went, so maybe they really did just start tweeting about it ’cause they were bored or whatever and still have no real plans to let the general public hear anything.

I guess we’ll find out the hard way — either more news will emerge soon, or we’ll all forget about this until the next time it comes up randomly.

In the meantime, please allow me to utilize this discussion of Mr. Fafara as an excuse to remind you that DevilDriver are currently part of the North American Khaos Tour we’re co-presenting with  Full Metal Jackie, and which also features Arch Enemy, Skeletonwitch, and Chthonic on the bill. We caught the show on its NYC stop this past Friday night and, no surprise, it was assloads of fun. Get dates here.
