JAM THIS NEW COHEED & CAMBRIA JOINT

There is a new video game coming out called Batman: Arkham City. This is probably old hat to most of the basement-dwelling betas who lurk our comments section, but it’s news to me. More to the point, that video game has a soundtrack that’s being released separately — remember soundtracks? I guess video games are the new movies — and that soundtrack has a brand new Coheed & Cambria song, “Deranged,” which you can now stream over at IGN. I like it. It reminds me of something that might’ve been on Good Apollo; melancholic and bittersweet, but still rockin’. The lyrical theme also has nothing to do with the whole Coheed fantasy saga I could never be bothered to follow, which is a nice relief. Stream it below.

That guys voice makes me want to commit many homicides.

I’m just curious…could either of you guys give your opinion on why you are so disinterested in video games (at least that’s what I gather)? Every time a post is something video game-related, some non-sarcastic snark is usually thrown in when normally I would (here, wrongly) assume that if someone is into metal, they probably enjoy playing some video games as well.

I remember a post called “8 bit metal madness” that featured some video game stuff, without the sarcastic remarks.

I dont like being negative, but I find Claudio Sanchez
has the most annoying vocal in the world.  Even
overlooking that, this song doesn’t really go anywhere. If you’re going to do
cheesy, at least have a hook or something. It just sounds boring. It’s so
wet-blanket and effeminate, you made the Prince Batman soundtrack sound like
Motorhead in comparison, ya pack o’ sissies!

Absolutely in love with this song. It’s a nice return to form.

Also, I love Claudio’s voice. Granted it isn’t something I’d expect metalheads to get into, but I absolutely love it.

Basement dwelling betas? Someone’s been reading too much Sergeant D. Last time I checked, video games were way more mainstream (and WAY less nerdy) than metal.

    • RandomSoul

way more mainstream? absolutely. less nerdy? no way. spend some time on the comments sections on IGN. just awful. IGN is also awful.

“The lyrical theme also has nothing to do with the whole Coheed fantasy saga I could never be bothered to follow”

I hear that. I listened to them in the same way I listen to Mastodon. Which is vaguely knowing what the lyrics are, and making my own interpretation of what they’re supposed to mean.
