THE EDGE OF THE EARTH IS THE UNITED STATES: FIVE SYLOSIS HEADLINE SHOWS ANNOUNCED!

Sylosis U.S. TourIn January of this year I selected Sylosis’ Edge of the Earth as my choice for the album that would fuck your collective faces off in 2011. And I was right! In case you somehow missed all the ranting and raving I’ve already done about Sylosis this year, I present you with Edge of the Earth stand-out track “Awakening:”

Traveling overseas to tour is hella expensive, and as such the Brits in Sylosis haven’t yet made it to the States… until now. The good news is that they’re finally coming over here in November and December in support of As I Lay Dying, but the bad news is that the tour is relatively short and they’re the first of four support bands, meaning they won’t be playing a very long set. But fear not, fellow Sylosis fans: according to a post on Sylosis’ Facebook page [via MS reader Lewis Hart], the band will be flying to the U.S. early to play five special headline shows before embarking on the AILD tour. Consider me there!

Those dates, as well as their dates supporting As I Lay Dying, after the jump.

Sylosis headline dates:

11/23 Denver, CO  Summit Front Bar
11/25 Crest Hill, IL  Bada Brew
11/26 Indianapolis, IN  Hoosier Dome
11/27 Columbus, OH  Alrosa Villa

Man, these guys are victims of what I like to call “The Skeletonwitch Syndrome”. When you get thrown on as the first band (despite creating music far superior) on a package tour of shit bands.

At least there’s no Canadian dates, so I don’t have to feel like a sucker for paying full price to watch the opening band.

    i LOVE this cd.

  • Captain Wookie

And now I don’t have to go the the AILD show in Chicago

  • TheHateMachine

These guys fucking rule ! m/

Dog shit. More retro thrash garbage, I can just listen to the original thrash bands and get more out of it.

Lol, dumbest comment of the day thus far. Show me a comparable “original” thrash band?

    • Evan Tucker

Really? Sylosis is so not a retro thrash band. Listen to sands of time or swallow the world and explain to me how they’re retro thrash. Yes you can hear their influences, but they build from what the old school thrash bands created.

The band have also got a pledge site to help with tour expenses http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/sylosis with a range of goodies including $28 for a shirt and a host of digital exclusives.

  • Captain Shoggoth

Seeing them across the pond in London on Friday, awesome band.

  • Ja5oN

I’m very much looking forward going to the Columbus show, still kind of awkward being at The Alrosa Villa knowing Dime (R.I.P.) was shot and killed there.

Sylosis is one of the few bands out there actually WRITING MUSIC. Not just following or copying other bands out there or playing chuggachugga.

    • CrusherDestroyer

I agree.  If you haven’t actually “listened” to this album, you are seriously missing out.  Best album of the year in my opinion.

Already got my tickets to the Denver show.  :)

Holy shit these guys are never in the US, this is fucking awesome. Also this album is top ten this year, still haven’t gotten sick of those riffs.
