EXCLUSIVE: THE DEVIL’S BLOOD SIGNS US DEAL WITH METAL BLADE

Since Dutch occult-rockers The Devil’s Blood took over my music life this summer, I’ve been fighting a nagging tug at my heart caused by the fear that, without a US label deal, TD’sB would not land in America for awesome live shows (and interviews and um make-out sessions). But as of this moment, I’m allowed to report that this shadow over my soul has been sunblasted away: Metal Blade Records is bringing The Devil’s Blood to America. Oh, sweet relief!

Behold fancy MetalSucks Exclusive details: Upcoming second album The Thousandfold Epicentre is slated for US release on January 17 and, boner of all bonerz, there’s already an awesome stateside tour in the works. Hoping for a vinyl release — perfect for classic metal acts with killer artwork like TD’sB (below) and labelmates Ghost — I was told that a 12″ edition will follow the CD release but that no date has been set. I was also told that Metal Blade chief Brian Slagel was behind the deal, so he should get ready for a huge fucking cookie bouquet from me. Slagel comments:

Reminiscent of the classic metal and psychedelic rock bands of the 60′s and 70′s, The Devil’s Blood has created a dark and haunting world made up of intriguing music, strong vocals and musicianship, reflective artwork, and a theatrical stage show that is not to be missed.

Pre-order The Thousandfold Epicentre and crank exclusive new track “She” here!

Metal Sucks pushing more crap? I’m almost ready to give up on this site, No Clean Singing and Teufel’s Tomb are killing it when it comes to quality music for the reader.

I suppose your right, but I want to only turn to a website once in a while see something I don’t agree with. Lately, it’s mostly shit bands I’m seeing.

“Reminiscent of the classic metal and psychedelic rock bands of the 60′s and 70′s”

I think we’ll be seeing more and more of that line in the near future. It seems like this sound is making a major comeback, and I’m watching newer bands like Ghost and this one grow huge in popularity while older bands like Pentagram are becoming relevant again. I feel like a few years ago these bands were being ignored, but I think people want a return to music that’s “real” and not auto-tuned garbage.

This band and Ghost are absolute crap! Difference in taste does not apply to those two bands either, they just plain suck. And yes, there is a lot of overrated auto-tuned  garbage like Fleshgod Apocalypse and Hate Eternal, but there are many many more who are doing right like, Mitochondrion, Disma, and old schoolers Immolation. Just listen to more music and you will find the good shit, it’s out there!

I don’t know if you noticed or not, but I never actually said I liked Ghost or this band. I just was saying that they are growing in popularity, and I see more bands jumping on this bandwagon, sound wise, because I think the timings about right..

And I already listen to the bands that you are saying are doing it “right” but thank you for the recommendations, regardless. Not exactly sure where Hate Eternal uses anything  ”auto-tuned” though.

With Hate Eternal, I was referring to the never-ending usage of triggers throughout the entire cd Phoenix Amongst the Ashes. I feel auto-tune and triggers are sort of in the same category. I should have been more clear.

          • blackjustice

That’s a pretty rough claim to say they are in the same category, but I get what you’re saying.

Auto-tune is generally just used for vocals, since it’s used to correct pitch or make you sound like a robot. Triggers are a digital replacement as well, but you don’t actually need a real source to use them, you can just generate or program the hits with a metronome or whatever you fancy.

Ah, Metal Blade, fantastic. So now I’m guaranteed not to be able to ever hear them on Spotify. Fucking Metal Blade…

They have a typo in their video.  It says “ones” instead of “once.”  That’s just dumb.
