AT SOULFLY’S SIGNAL, UNLEASH HELL

Did Max Cavalera steal Cavalera Conspiracy’s mojo and donate it to Soulfly or something? Although I love Cavalera Conspiracy’s debut, Inflikted, I found its follow-up, Blunt Force Trauma, to be lackluster; now, between the new Soulfly album coming out, Enslaved, and between the just-unveiled track “Gladiator” and the previously-released “World Scum,” I’m starting to think this may be the best thing Soulfly have produced since Dark Ages in ’06. Which would actually make it one of the project’s two best albums ever.

The song isn’t mind-blowing or anything, but it is solid, and mercifully devoid of any “Jump Da Fuck Up”-style nu-metallery. I give it a thumbs up.

Stream “Gladiator” below and decide for yourself. Enslaved comes out March 13 on Roadrunner.
