MASTODON’S BRENT HINDS WAS ON THE ODDITIES REALITY TV SHOW

0

I’m a self-professed whore for ultra-niche reality TV, but I’ve somehow let The Science Channel’s Oddities series, which follows New York City’s Obscura Antiques & Oddities shop, pass under my radar… until now.

One Mr. Brent Hinds of a little band called Mastodon, a long time patron of the shop, dropped in for a taping of Oddities while Mastodon were in town for a gig (my guess would be the day before their November 19, 2011 show at Terminal 5), looking for “some stuff for my amp or something to decorate the stage a bit. Maybe get another skull.” Hinds is quite the entertaining dude by nature and that alone makes this segment worth watching (and ’cause you love Mastodon, duh), but as an added bonus we learn why Hinds almost named his new side-project “Giraffe Tongue” and why his other side project, Fiend Without a Face, wears Shriner hats and masks.

The segment with Hinds starts around 5:15.
