VOLBEAT TO RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM WHO?

Volbeat have announced a summer headlining run, with support coming from Hellyeah and Iced Earth, and… uh… am I the only one who was like, “What the crap are Iced Earth doing on this tour?” Metal Insider points out that IE’s main dude, Jon Schaffer, is buds with Volbeat’s Michael Poulsen, but still — Iced Earth seem wildly out of place on this bill, which is otherwise pure modern-day cock rock. I can’t even imagine what Volbeat and Hellyeah fans will make of Iced Earth. I mean, maybe I should give them some credit ’cause they could very well have diverse tastes in metal, but then again, they like Hellyeah, so that doesn’t really speak highly of them.

In any case, Vince assures me that Volbeat are good live, but I’ve never enjoyed their brand of Elvis metal to find out for myself. But if this tour sounds at all appealing to you, dates are after el jumperooni.
