ANNOUNCING “THE KICKASS TOUR”: VALIENT THORR, HOLY GRAIL AND ROYAL THUNDER
(holy shit SO MUCH HAIR on this tour!)
Upon reading this post on ThePRP.com more carefully, it appears that there’s actually some band called The Kickass who are opening for Valient Thorr, Holy Grail and Royal Thunder on their recently announced mammoth summer tour (some dates leaked out last week, but now they’ve been released in full). But on first glance I thought it was called “The Kickass Tour,” which would’ve made sense ’cause it kicks some serious ass. Has anyone ever named a tour that? If not, I’m stealing it for future use. ©Vince Neilstein
Anyway, this tour is gonna rule. Valient Thorr are one of my absolute most favoritest bands on the planet to see live — they are SO MUCH FUN and I almost always end up in the moshpit (a rarity these days). I’m still not tired of seeing Holy Grail’s shreddy, firestorm-of-hair performance despite having seen it thrice at SXSW and five times in the past year. Royal Thunder’s soulful, blues-inspired doom is the perfect counterpoint to Valient Thorr’s and Holy Grail’s high-speed fury; fun-times and good vibes, just in a different way. And I haven’t heard of The Kickass before, but based on their association with these three groups, they must… uh… kick ass.
