CHILDREN OF BODOM BECOME CHILDREN OF BOSTON, COVER DROPKICK MURPHYS

If you fancy yourself some kinda metal tough guy, try going to a Dropkick Murphys show some time. That someone in the crowd isn’t killed at each and every one of these things is kind of baffling to me; their shows are friggin’ INTENSE.

So did the Celtic punk outfit’s nouveau classic “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” need a metal cover? Probably not… but Children of Bodom have supplied the world with one anyway! It comes off their upcoming CD/DVD compilation, Holiday at Lake Bodom (15 Years of Wasted Youth), and can be streamed below courtesy of Crave Online. It basically just swaps out the original’s bagpipes and fiddles for keyboards and guitars instead; as a result, it sounds like a pagan metal song now. (Dumb young ‘uns who don’t know any better could probably be convinced it’s an original tune by, like, Turisas.) So, yeah, I don’t love it. Of course, nothing ever stops you cats from disagreeing with me…

Holiday at Lake Bodom comes out May 22. Here’s the Dropkick Murphys’ original “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” in case you’ve never heard it before:
