ALBUM ART + A SNIPPET OF NEW MUSIC FROM PERIPHERY II: THE PERIPHERYING

Periphery’s new album is going to be called Periphery II, and while you might be a sarcastic asshole like me who initially goes, “Oh, Periphery II, eh? Very clever, fellas, I see what you did there!”, if you actually stop and think about it for a sec, while not many bands just stick a number behind their name as an album title anymore, the ones that have are usually pretty good (see: Van Halen II, and  Led Zeppelin II, the latter of which is so goddamn great that some dude legally adopted it as his name). So I’m down with the deux.

Here’s a teaser video, which has the album art and some new music that sounds totally epic:

And here’s the tracklist… the title of the third song made me laugh out loud:

1) Muramasa
2) Have a Blast – Guthrie Govan guest solo
3) Facepalm Mute
4) Ji
5) Scarlet
6) Luck as a Constant
7) Ragnarok
8) The Gods Must Be Crazy!
9) MAKE TOTAL DESTROY
10) Erised – John Petrucci (Dream Theater) guest solo
11) Epoch
12) Froggin’ Bullfish
13) Mile Zero – Wes Hauch (The Faceless) guest solo
14) Masamune

Periphery II comes out July III on Sumerian I. Pre-order it here. The band will be part of this year’s Summer Slaughter; get dates here.
