MORE INFO ON THE UPCOMING BLOODJINN REUNION: LINEUP CONFIRMED + NEW ALBUM IN THE WORKSNo idea which lineup this is or which dudes are in this photo… sorry, guys!

Last week we learned that the influential North Carolina metal outfit Bloodjinn would be reuniting for a show in September and we got very, very excitebike. Today’s we’ve learned directly from vocalist Joel Collins the members that will be participating in the reunion, and he also told us that the band is currently working on new material. Get uper-duper excitebike!!!

First, the lineup: in addition to Collins — the lone original member — Brian Lewis will be on drums, Kyle Odell on guitar, Justin Reich on bass, Mckenzie Bell (ex-He Is Legend) on guitar (for part of the set) and Trey Richards will also be on guitar (for the other part of set). According to Collins, “Trey had a lot to do with a bunch of songs on This Machine Runs On Empty and Mckenzie joined the band and put in a little on that album too, so they will kinda rotate or split the set some.” Collins also said the band will be playing songs several from This Machine as well as some older stuff and some new material.

As far as the new material is concerned, Collins had this to offer:

We are finally planning to release “Between Breaths” with new songs that are being written right now and will be recorded soon. The artwork is already done which was done by Mike D of KSE. With that, we will most likely bring out a video and some more stuff this year.

So we’ve got that to look forward to as well.

Here’s where things get a little confusing: there apparently might be another Bloodjinn reunion show in December with a different lineup. That show will feature the group’s original configuration (1999-2003), including Collins. While this might seem silly at first, I understand the reasoning; the band’s early stuff sounds completely different than their newer stuff, so it makes sense to do two separate shows instead of making certain members play songs they had nothing to do with. An L.A. Guns-type situation, this is not.

Stay up to date on Bloodjinn via their newly minted Facebook page.
