GOJIRA’S THE FLESH ALIVE DVD PREVIEW IS GIVING ME SEIZURES

EMBED BROKEN. Click here to watch!

Lost in the hooplah of the new Gojira album (stream it!) is the fact that our favorite Frenchmen are releasing a live DVD/Bluray set on July 31st called The Flesh Alive, featuring a documentary about the making of 2008’s The Way of All Flesh and a live concert during that album’s touring cycle. Smart timing on the part of Mascot Records, the label putting it out, to capitalize on the buzz of the new album.

Watch Gojira perform “Oroborous” from the live concert portion of the set above. I sincerely hope the editing style of this clip is just something the filmmakers did to gussy up this clip for public consumption and it’s not the way the entire concert is edited. But I fear that’s not the case; the trailer the band released in April was cut in the same “spastic” style, to quote my buddy Axl. I don’t get it; Gojira are so captivating live that they don’t need all these cheesy post-effects or lightning-fast cuts to supposedly make things look more exciting. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gojira and I had to turn this thing off after one minute because I felt an epileptic fit coming on. Please, please… may the final DVD not be edited this way. I fear I might’ve just wasted $17 on my pre-order.
