ROB TRUJILLO ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING COOL

You’d never know it to listen to Death Magnetic, on which his parts are so bland that Metallica may as well have Newsteded him, but Rob Trujillo is actually a good bass player! And while he seems to have dutifully worked his way up through the lame-sideman food chain (Black Label Society –> Ozzy –> Metallica), once upon a time he was a part of Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves, and some of us thought the crab walk was pretty damn cool, too.

So the fact that Trujillo re-joined Mike Muir and company on-stage to jam on some Infectious tunes at this past weekend’s Orion Music + More fest kinda makes my heart hurt. It’s so much more fun than seeing him play with Metallica that it makes me long for an alternate world in which Trujillo was much cooler, albeit much poorer.
