SUMMER SLAUGHTER SHOW IN TAMPA, FLORIDA DELAYED AFTER SHOOTING THREAT
THE WHOLE WORLD IS GOING TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET.
Metal Injection reports that tonight’s Summer Slaughter show at The Ritz Theater in Tampa, Florida, was delayed for several hours after “a female attendee overheard somebody threaten to ‘shoot the singer of Job For A Cowboy’ and promptly told officials.” Security consequently evacuated the venue and re-searched concertgoers for weapons; when none were found, the show was allowed to proceed, and attendees were treated to free drinks for their troubles.
Periphery’s Jake Bowen tweeted the above photo, which shows police at the scene and the crowd outside the venue.
I strongly suspect that whomever made the remark that began this ordeal was making a bad joke and that both the young woman who reported the comment and security were overreacting somewhat. That being said, it’s hard to judge anyone for being extra-sensitive in light of the recent shooting in Aurora, and, certainly, it’s better for people to be inconvenienced than hurt.
But really, everyone needs to get their shit together. This whole summer has been tainted by violence, threats of violence, and accusations of violence. It’s not befitting the metal community — and I know that sounds ridiculous, but I swear, I am being sincere. Do we really want to confirm to uptight, close-minded assholes that we are the degenerates they think we are just because we love bands like Cannibal Corpse and Lamb of God?
