NEW INTRONAUT RECORD COMING IN 2013

Has it really been nearly two years since Intronaut released Valley of Smoke? Apparently it has, but the guys have kept plenty busy in the meantime with a slew of tours (including opening for Tool and playing our South by South Death show), guitarist Sacha Dunable’s doom project Bereft and drummer Danny Walker’s participation in the Death To All shows. Through all that Valley of Smoke still feels as fresh as the day it was born; replay value = maximum! And today we find out that they’re already planning for the next chapter.

The band has posted a quick clip of a jam session on their YouTube channel. That the Introdudes actually get together in the same room and just JAM to come up with ideas for new music is incredibly refreshing in this age of emailing ideas — and even completed songs written in full by one person — back and forth. Most bands these days that are at Intronaut’s level are too busy or too far apart to sit down and write music together the old fashioned way, and I think Intronaut’s chosen method speaks to the consistent quality and power of their music.

The trailer promises a new album in 2013, but 2013 is a long year — twelve months, to be exact — so don’t get too excited quite yet! Still, awesome.
