MORSE, PORTNOY AND GEORGE: “THOUGHTS PT. 5” SUPER PROG JAM

“Thoughts Pt. 5” is a song from Neal Morse’s forthcoming album Momentum (September 11, Radiant / Metal Blade) recorded with the supergroup cast of Mike Portnoy, Neal Morse (duh) and Randy George. The trio also recorded the Cover 2 Cover album together in 2005, and Portnoy and George have done plenty of other guest work for Morse.

I haven’t been able to get into a lot of these prog-metal supergroups (Transatlantic, Jelly Jam, etc) but this song is actually really good. If nothing else, it’s great to see Portnoy playing drums in something that isn’t Adrenaline Mob. Dude’s super tasteful.
