NEW COHEED AND CAMBRIA VIDEO STARTS THE ONE-TWO PUNCH OF THE AFTERMAN DOUBLE ALBUM

Coheed and Cambria - The Afterman

As I’ve stated previously, while I enjoy Coheed and Cambria’s music and think they’re a swell band, I have little to zero interest in the ongoing story that’s being told by the lyrics on all of their albums. It’s not that I don’t think it could be interesting, it’s just that I don’t have the time, and I’d prefer to spend the time I do have rocking out heartily to C&C’s music factory.

But I gotta admit, I’m intrigued by the storyline of their newest music video “Domino the Destitute,” and I wonder if it in any way ties into the themes on their forthcoming double-album The Afterman or the Coheed saga at large. The video follows the story of two boxers and the rise and fall of their careers, and it’s a beautifully shot piece of cinema. Check it out:

Definitely feeling the Iron Maiden “Wasted Years” influence on that opening riff, per Metal Insider.

The Afterman: Ascension will be released on October 9, with The Afterman: Descension following in February 2013.
