Spheric Universe Experience - The New Eve

Despite prog metal’s popularity explosion in recent years there’s been a dearth of good old-fashioned Dream Theaterian prog. I know, no one can replicate the masters, and everyone hates James LaBrie. But sometimes I just wanna prog out with my frog out, old-school style. France’s Spheric Universe Experience allow me to do just that in the best of ways.

Check out “The New Eve,” now streaming at Noisecreep. I suspect many of you will turn this off after the very first “Yeah!” but I encourage fans of any kind of prog metal to stick with it; these guys write great songs that’ll stick in your brain after the very first listen. The keyboards are vintage Awake-era Kevin Moore, all these guys have the ability, and the singer is not annoying. Win/win/win! If you dig that one, check out “The Day I Died,” a more ballad-y tune that’s also on SUE’s new album The New Eve.

Spheric Universe Experience’s fourth album, The New Eve, will hit stores on Sept. 11 via Nightmare Records. Pre-order the album on Amazon.
