FROM EXILE RELEASE NOT ONE BUT TWO SWEET NEW SONGS

Atlanta’s From Exile, who are consistently one of my favorite unsigned bands in metal today, have released not one but two songs for free download.

The tracks, called “Marty’s Gambit” and “A Desperate and Willing Enslavement (Infection),”  can be downloaded here; they’ll both appear on the band’s new full-length album, which is tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2013 release. These two songs represent what is, in my opinion, From Exile’s best work yet; guitarist/vocalist Eric Guenther told me the following about the tracks via e-mail…

“I wanted to avoid the ‘pissing contest’ that we see with metal records these days; the kind of ‘who can out-Meshuggah Meshuggah” arms race…  Something bigger than the shredding but still equally complex and intricate of an arrangement on every level of the experience; from a bird’s eye album view downward to the smallest detail.”

…which is a more-than-fair assessment of the work. From Exile strike a perfect balance between showing off and not just seeming like they’re showing off without bothering to write decent songs.

In addition to the free downloads, below you can watch videos of the band performing these songs for indieATL Sessions recently. The footage is really great because it demonstrates that no studio trickery is required to make these dudes sound great; they are, in fact, the real deal. Check it out:

I will suck From Exile’s collective cock more as we get closer and closer to the release of their new album.
