“THE GALAXY”: DETHKLOK BODLY GO WHERE NO BAND HAS GONE BEFORE

Dethklok’s new video for “The Galaxy” is like a quarter Star Trek, a quarter the original Star Wars, a quarter 80s action movies, and a quarter stoner-friendly laser light show performance clip. And, yes, the sum of all those things does, indeed, equal SWEET!

In fact, really the only thing that I don’t love about this video is that Nathan’s alien captors are robots, which denies us the pleasure of seeing some ridiculously over-the-top slapstick violence when the villains inevitably get their comeuppance. (Although the robot does still cower as though it were a living being that fears death, which was a nice touch.) This lack of senseless, sociopathic brutality means that the video still can’t compete with the one the band released recently for “I Ejaculate Fire,” because, let’s be real, no one watches Metalocalypse for the maturity and tastefulness of its humor.

That being said, this video is still pretty much delightful from start-to-finish, and only those with a severe case of stickupyourassitis will be able to watch it without smiling.

Watch “The Galaxy” below. The song appears on The Dethalbum III: The Search for Explosion, which comes out October 16. Dethklok begins a tour with Machine Head, All That Remains is to Find a New Singer, and The Black Dahlia Murder at the end of this month; get dates here.
