TERRIFIC NEWS, PART 3: MEEK IS MURDER ANNOUNCE NEW EP

Last Wednesday, Meek is Murder teased that something awesome was coming on October 30… which, of course, let us to wonder, “WHAT IS IT?!?!”

And now we know: a new, sci-fi themed EP,  Into the Sun Where it Falls Off the Sky! (Exclamation point mine.)

Guitarist/vocalist Mike Keller had the following to say about Into the Sun…:

“Much in the way Algorithms drew influence from computer science concepts as allegories for life’s many challenges, the songs of IInto the Sun Where it Falls Off the Sky honor a couple of our favorite sci-fi films as metaphors for the comedy and tragedy of our lives.”

The song titles are all taken from the names of characters from Aliens, Back to the Future, and Firefly, and if you’re wondering, no, I did not have to be told that, and yes, it does make me a little sad that I know who Captain Mal Reynolds is… but not as sad that as I am that I know “Out of Gas” is the title of a Firefly episode.

  1. Private William Hudson (Dead Meat)
  2. Ellen Ripley (Into The Sun)
  3. Doctor Emmett Brown (Endless In Our Fleeting)
  4. Marty McFly (88 mph)
  5. Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Out Of Gas)

The five song, seven-minute-long (gotta love grind bands!) EP was produced by Jesse Korman of Anthony Gobeille’s favorite band, The Number 12 Looks Like You, who will also make a guest appearance; it was engineered and mixed by Kevin Antreassian at Backroom Studios (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mike Portnoy, Foxy Shazam — read a really cool interview Vince did with him a couple of years ago here). I’m sure we’ll remind you about it prior to its October 30 release date, but you can also keep up-to-date on all things Meek is Murder by visiting their Facebook page.
