Stone Sour - The House of Gold and Bones Part 1

We have now heard the forthcoming Stone Sour album, House of Gold & Bones – Part 1, in full. And it’s a good news / bad news situation.

The good news: it’s pretty decent! A solid hard rock bordering on metal album, and there’s really nothing not to like about it; catchy riffs, guitar solos, Corey Taylor’s sexy voice, memorable songs.

The bad news: the two songs you’ve already heard, ”Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” (which, incidentally, are the first two on the album), are easily the album’s best two songs. Nothing else comes close to being as catchy.

Here’s a new song from the album called “RU486” that’s probably one of the heaviest on the album. It’s aight but doesn’t match the triumphant feeling “Absolute Zero” invokes. Wat u think?

Thankfully the band has chosen “Gone Sovereign” as the track for their first music video. It’s a decent if not groundbreaking clip that simulates a live show… and it actually looks like it was a lot of fun to be at this shoot. Watch, via Noisecreep:

House of Gold & Bones – Part 1 comes out on october 23rd via Roadrunner.
