The $100 Guitar Project
Today in awesome ideas for art projects: Guitarists Nick Didkovsky and Chuck O’Meara bought an unbranded, run-down $100 electric guitar on the Internet, then sent it to 65 other musicians (including Alex Skolnick, Colin Marston and many more) over the course of two years. Each musician recorded a piece of original music with the guitar culminating in the eventual release of a double CD.
The project started on a lark; Didkovsky and O’Meara used to regularly send each other Internet listings of dream guitars, but when they stumbled upon this bizarre item they couldn’t resist the temptation to see what it was all about. The idea took off from there.
Metal Injection attended a special exhibition / release party for the $100 guitar project in New York City. Check out their wrap-up below.
