If The Devil’s Blood had waited until after a few years and two more classic albums to disband, it would have resulted in a much higher number of hands-wringing, brow-creasing, pouting fans. But the occult rockers broke up last month before having built the suitably huge following their next masterpieces would have ensured. So it’s just the lucky group of ground-floor fans who are all super-bummed about the Led Zeppelin-sized mega-band that should’ve been, the one only hinted at by their two heedlessly brilliant records. FUck!

But hey before any more tears cascade from my vagina, let’s all hurrah right now cuz The Devil’s Blood mainman Selim Lemouchi just unveiled a new project on Sunday: Selim Lemouchi & His Enemies. Their facebook states that it’s Lemouchi and an unfixed roster of collaborators, like guitarist Robby Geerings of The Alabama Kids on the first song “Music Resembling Red Queen” (listen and download below). It notes too that SL&HE is linked to Ván Records, the non-US label home for The Devil’s Blood’s past and posthumous releases. But “Red Queen” has no vocals (yet?), so it can’t be mistaken for TDB in that respect. That’s cool, and I’ll just go on record now saying that I’m open to joining as non-contributing singer! Though I might be busy fronting STP too so hey call me, Selim xoxo luvv uuuuu.
