Scott Weiland is Confused
Slash has been saying since January that he heard Scott Weiland was fired from Stone Temple Pilots, and yesterday, the band released a statement saying Scott Weiland has been fired from Stone Temple Pilots. So it seems like everyone is pretty much on the same page about this… save for Scott Weiland, whose own statement on the matter reads thusly:
“I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday.”
I have little doubt that Weiland will bring a lawsuit against the remaining members of STP… but I also have little doubt that said remaining members would have publicly announced his firing without consulting with their own attorneys first and making sure everything was hunky dory. I’m also “not sure,” how Scott says, why apparently everyone, including a guy who hasn’t been his bandmate for more than four years, knew he was being fired save for him, but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with Weiland being completely full of shit.
