“Deceiver of the Gods:” Your First Taste of New Amon Amarth Music

Amon Amarth waste little time on their mission to rape and pillage your ears: just a couple of days after revealing the ridiculously epic and epicly ridiculous album art for their new album Deceiver of the Gods, our favorite Swedish Viking warriors have released the title track of the album for all to hear.

The song starts out as thrashy and upbeat as anything Amon Amarth have ever released — I wondered “Is this a new direction for the band?” — but then the chorus hits, and, rest assured, you know that your favorite old viking melodeath friends haven’t gone anywhere. Dat guitar solo is choice, too. Listen:

Deceiver of the Gods will be out later this year via Metal Blade, although no exact release date has been announced.
