Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is DecibelHere’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…

Cannibal Corpse make death metal comfort food—not fast food. They’re one of extreme music’s most reliable—not predictable—bands. These distinctions are important to recognize. Maintaining that kind of niche decade after decade is quite an accomplishment, and Buffalo’s/Tampa’s finest should be applauded for rarely losing their balance 12 albums in.

That track record and—the universal respect it demands—made them no-brainers to headline the second annual Decibel Magazine Tour. And since this is the issue where we take you way behind the scenes of the tour’s assembly, Cannibal Corpse were likewise the obvious choice for flexi honors. (Although, really, dudes, why the long wait? We’ve already lavished you sick bastards with one , two, three cover appearances and a Tomb of the Mutilated Hall of Fame.)

Anyway, their contribution is a ferocious live version of “Make Them Suffer,” from our 77th favorite death metal album of all time, Kill. It’s a song that kicks off with the line “extreme pain is what they need to feel,” so, yeah, they’re taking the literal approach here. Pray they don’t take the literal approach to skullfucking you at any of the dB2013 shows this May and June.

Until then, you can sample the track below and grab a copy of our special Decibel Magazine Tour issue featuring the limited Cannibal flexi right here.

The June 2013 issue of Decibel features Napalm Death, Immolation, and a Carcass Heartwork hall of fame entry. You can purchase it here. But why not just get a full subscription to ensure that you never miss an issue?
