Suffokate’s new vocalist, Matthew Krawchuck — a.k.a. “Matty Kay” — has released a confesional-style video (he loves to make confessional-style videos) in which he ostensibly welcomes himself to the band. He then discusses why he’s excited to be in Suffokate…

“Each and every one of those songs, lyrically, is absolutely fucking phenomenal… we’ve all connected to these songs through our hardships and everything.”

…and cites five of the band’s “masterpieces” that he’s excited to perform live: “Slaughter Your Enemies,” “The Skies Were Filled with Fire,” “Distant Words, “Force Fed,” and  “Constant Urge to Kill.”

So I was curious to see just how “phenomenal” the lyrics to these “masterpieces” are. Here are some samples just from the songs Krawchuck cited:

“Slaughter Your Enemies”

Let’s face this lets face this GO
Let’s face this fucking defeat
Let’s face this fucking defeat
Let’s face this fucking defeat
Let’s face this fucking defeat
Defeat defeat

“The Skies Were Filled with Fire”

Embraced with broken arms that will never catch you
We all know that this will be the end
Embraced with broken arms that will never catch you
We all know that this will be the end

“Force Fed”

I won’t ever stop, take on the world for all that I’ve lost
For all I’ve lost
I’ll never fucking stop
I will never fucking stop

“Constant Urge to Kill”

Now you float, you fucking float.

Yup, that sure is some phenomenal writing! Absolutely no chance you could eat Alphabet Cereal and crap out better lyrics than those. Good job, Holden Ears Ricky Hoover!
