Prepare to be Wowed by Uneven Structure’s New Video for “Frost/Hail”

I hate to label any band I actually enjoy as “djent” because that term’s taken on such negative connotations in the past couple of years, but let’s call a spade a spade: Uneven Structure are definitely djenty. That said, they’re really friggin’ good, and one of few up-and-coming bands in the genre worth paying attention to.

Exhibit A: this absolutely gorgeous video for their new song “Frost/Hail,” which premiered yesterday at Metal Injection. It’s meant to be a continuation of their 2011 video for “Awaken,” Parts 2 and 3 together to “Awaken’s” Part 1, and the visuals are positively stunning. Even more impressive: all the production was done by Uneven Structure guitarist Igor Omodei.

The song is also much stronger than “Awaken,” IMO; I enjoy these guys most when they’re laying back in the atmospheric pocket instead of trying to be too heavy. And here, more than ever, Matthieu Romarin’s vocals remind me of Soilwork’s Speed Strid (and that’s a good thing). Watch:

The video comes ahead of the band re-releasing a newly recorded and reworked version of their 2009 EP, 8, which will be released as a special bundle option with their 2011 album Februus. Uneven Structure expect to write and record a new album later this year.
