The Tide is Finally Turning for The Ocean

The Ocean 2012

You know you’ve got a special record on your hands when prog-happy metal sites like this one, Heavy Blog is Heavy, The Monolith etc aren’t the only ones raving about it, but more indie-metal/hardcore focused outlets like Pitchfork and Invisible Oranges are on board too. And when the band is suddenly landing high-profile tours like Summer Slaughter. Several records into their career, will this finally be the record that brings The Ocean the fame and fortune (by metal standards) they’ve deserved for so long?

For the love of fuck, I sure hope so. These guys have been relentlessly plugging along for a decade with little to show for it. One bad luck incident after another has plagued the band, they’ve undergone myriad lineup changes, and though Metal Blade Records has doggedly stuck with the band and gotten behind each new album they’ve gotten very little back in return. But it feels like the tide is finally changing with Pelagial. This record is special, people. Our own Dave Mustein thinks so too.

Below, stream six minutes of samples of every track on the album, via Invisible Oranges. Be sure to check out full songs from the album herehere and here as well. Pelagial comes out next Tuesday.
