Lavinia - Take Shelter

We’d never heard Lavinia’s 2010 debut EP There Is Light Between Us, but just a few notes into “New Blood,” the first of two tracks on the band’s new 7″ Take Shelter, we knew this was a band we could easily get behind. Similar to acts like Junius, If These Trees Could Talk and Caspian (Lavinia even share guitarist Philip Jamieson with the latter), Lavinia specialize in enjoying the journey, not the destination, getting you there at their own pace through peaks and valleys of atmospheric post-rock, stopping to appreciate every view and take in every moment along the way. This is the stuff cross-country drives are made of.

Stream “New Blood” below. The Take Shelter 7″ is out now via the Mylene Sheath; order it here.
